    This is fixed in MS05-039, which can be downloaded from Windows Update, or will get installed on XP machines through Automatic Updates.

    5 days from it being disclosed to MS and a public fix being available.

    re: the uni network, surely the "public" machines would be on a different segment to the core LAN?

    use some form of quarentine (like that in ISA 2004 ) to prevent access (by IPSEC VPN ) to the main network untill the system has been proven and patched.

    Ran v6 window update, there were 6 waiting for me.


    V4 doesnt show new updates anymore (possibly becuase I had a few services disabled though)
