    /me really needs to upgrade

1Ghz Athlon, 256mb ram... dear god!

As for Vista, I can't really comment too much on it as I haven't seen it... but even when I did have my P4 monster before this, I still only ran Win2k.

Oh and Linux is cool, I run Debian on my server, but the Desktops are so utterly bloated.. I'm sure they'll make Vista look positively Kate Moss.

Or want some domain/security features which you can't do with a linux kernel.

Or want performance, lets be honest you talk about playable HL2, i hate to say i think thats complete flaigrent rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish, in my experiance of been the hardware monkey for a relitivly small LAN, I've NEVER seen a PC of that spec, able to run HL2 at that res, with anything like nice graphics/framerate been playable. No. Whilst i might be master of the POST adaptor + people who can't transport a comptuer without a hard drive falling out. I'm a hardware perv, and do like to see whats inside, and how well its doing.
