    Weird Internet Exploder problem

For some odd ball reason my XP-Pro system has decided it will only open one copy of Internet Expoder at a time - bit of a pain when you want to have more than 1 IE window open (real pain when you click on a link and it's an "open in new window" link as it won't open!!!)
    Any ideas?
I haven't installed anything recently (other than MS updates....hmmmmm, nah they couldn't have messed up...could they???)

    Hehehe...I know but I couldn't resist

I never use IE apart from updates and official M$ stuff I have to get. Thus: less spyware on my system

don't run IE as an administrative user.

right click on the shortcut, select RUN AS USER.

make a user that has NO ADMINISTRATIVE PRIVELEDGES.

remeber firefox is a younger code base, so it been more insecure than IE over the last few months should be no surprise.

I just noticed I've been having the same problem also (although FF is my main browser). When did you restore it back to? Maybe there was an update or something that made to be like this?

I think the file is "actxprxy.dll" which is why trying to re-register the DLL "actprxy.dll" reported a LoadLibrary error.

Have you verified that Tools / Advanced / "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" is not selected?

Does it open a new window if you hold down shift and click a hyperlink?

Does it happen for every user that is logged on?
(If not, then it's a user profile/setting issue and not a DLL registration problem.)

I read that older versions of the Yahoo! toolbar have caused this problem in the past too, make sure that is not installed or is up to date.

Lol - seems like that was the problem .

Seems that way. I signed up to yahoo.com yesterday, and got a yahoo toolbar which I didn't really want, so that looks like it caused it.
