Resizing boot partition on 2k3 server

We have been asked to look at a server which has been having performance issues.

We have discovered that the company that set this server up, only gave the C drive 5GB to play with, they installed only the basic options for the server.

Now they want ACT & Sage installed, but the server only has 200mb free from the 5GB.

Can anyone recommend a software product that will safely allow us resize the partition?

Volume Manager looks good, £500, but its not listed in their UK E shop, which makes me wonder if its only for the US market.

Looks like it's been pulled; that's not good - it was an effective product. I'll have a look for an alternative.

Partition magic is great for partition manipulation on Windows, so long as you have the server connected to UPS you wont have a problem should the power fail.

I'd be tempted to use something like drive snapshoot to take a ghost image of c: , trash the partition and rebuild it, then restore the partition.

Nah, it'll work fine if you use the boot disk, of course you could always use the ntfsresize linux utility (it comes with knoppix afaik), but you'd want to do a few trail runs with that first on a dump box computer. Failing that, you can choose the safe route and do as Moby-Dick suggested.

We use Ghost on ours (Compac / HP Proliant ML and DL series).
Don't forget to make sure DOS drivers are available for your NIC and for the RAID card before investing though.
It's a good method in that you can always roll things back to how they were and can also resize the partitions as you re-image.
