    Chat rooms :)

Right - the missus is building a website for Tortoise keepers, and she wants a chat room on her website. Since they're not partcularly computer savvy, it's got to be easy to use. At the moment I've set her up a Parachat chat thingy, and it's great - but it can't be moderated. We've had a few troublemakers ruining everyone elses fun as we can't remove them.

So, this is where you come in. Do you know of a free webchat thingy that I can add to the site that allows me to set up a moderator or op?

Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

IRC is great for that sort of informal thing!

Problem is its a very out-dated protocol and idea, relies too much on trust and other such things found on the net more and more infrequently

    Anyway the 'classic':
    http://www.jpilot.com/products/jirc/demo.html
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)

Lowe - just make sure you get L in your channel to op anyone who needs to be, and you'll be fine .

Where's this new tortoise loving channel then, and on what server?

you could also use cgi:irc as an alternative to java, although that has additional problems when you connect to other networks as they may see it as an open proxy.

L assumes Quakenet. a nickserv/chanserv duo is more common on other networks

Click on the chat room link and it'll all sort itself out. It's only a very basic site I know, but web design isn't my thing really.
