Office 2007 Home & Student Edition

Does anyone know who is eligible to buy the Office 2007 Home & Student edition? The title suggests that any home user can now buy this but is this the case.

Previously it could only be purchased by students. When I was a student back in 2000 (showing my age!) the box didn't come with a CD and I had to get a form signed by my tutor and fax it to Microsoft, who then sent the CD. I don't know why they stopped this because the XP version contained the media and ALTHOUGH anyone could buy it the licence only permitted use by students.

I'd be grateful if someone could clear up this matter for me.

my son has just bought it from Costco for £90, Microsoft activated it with no problem......dunno if it's a cheap price though.

Yep, as far as I know - makes it very reasonably priced - I think it retails at around £120, making it £40 per machine, but some folks have found it for £90 - £30 per machine.

Either way, its a good price I think.

I heard it doesnt include Outlook though Is there a way to purchase Outlook on its own, because looking at it I would have to go for Standard which works out at around £200 with ONE license!!

Or is it possible to still use Outlook 2003 and Office 2007 Home Edition at the same time?

No reason you couldn't use Outlook 2003 with Office 2007 H+SE, though the new Windows Mail client in Vista makes this an entire non-issue for me.

They were probably worried the name was a violation of the trading descriptions act. There's an apt oxymoron if ever I saw one.

Come to think of it, 'Microsoft Excel' is too.

    Stop the lies!

Use it for its Junk Mail Filter and because all my email is currently in it, the Import Mail tool in Windows Mail on my Vista x64 says it cannot import mail from Outlook.

Even for home users there are many advantages of using Outlook over Windows Mail (Outlook Express). Outlook uses Word to compose messages so you get all the benefits of automatic spell checking as you type, etc.

Even for home use the Calendar can be used to store anniversaries, birthdays etc and tasks for those reminders such as pay bills, etc...

Its a shame this version doesn't come with Outlook like the old one but then I guess thats the price you pay for making this version available to Home users.
