    Vista Boot Problem

When trying to boot from my vista DVD (full version) all I get is it loading vista, then a vista background and nothing else. mouse moves around fine, so it's not locking up, but it doesn't load setup. I don't particularly want to overwrite my install of XP. I'd rather Have the option to boot from either.

Are you giving Vista a chance? It sometimes takes a while for things to progress.

next time I give it an attempt I'll give it 30 minutes. Will that be sufficient?

The only reason I haven't given it longer than 4 or 5 minutes is that neither my HDD activity light is flashing nor the light on my dvd drive to tell me it's doing something.

You can still install it from XP without upgrading XP itself - just don't choose 'upgrade' and instead choose custom and then point it at the blank partition where you want Vista to go

You may find it takes 5mins or more. Not much more though.
