Needs to run chkdsk, cant run it tho Corrupt Master File Table...
Then drive X: does it as well...

Is there a nice easy way to get my MFT back or am I looking at format n then data recovery?

    Have you tried swapping back?
Failing that, try a linux boot cd, ive often had data back when windows cant read the file system that way.

Knoppix livecd would do the trick, it's one of the better livecds.

I had this once, paniced, but then just ran chkdsk a few more times and it sorted itself out. Not a guarenteed solution, granted.

not sure but possibly using the XP repair thingy on the install disk and fixing/recreating something ... there's lots of scary-sounding functions you can run. I've used it fix/replace my mbr ... dunno about mft. Using linux to boot and then make backups of important unbackedup stuff would be a good start though I guess!

    good luck!
