Cycling

Hi Guys,

I am after a new bicycle for myself!

I am in need of some good fitness to hopefully make me lose my added weight!!

Any recommendations on a decent bicycle for <£250??

Thanks
John

What kind of bike? MTB, road, hybrid?

Where will you do the majority of your riding?

Re: Cycling

When I was looking for mine, the Carrera Kraken came out as a reasonably priced hardtail, I forget what I paid for mine, but it has a pretty good level of kit as standard.

MBUK seemed to like it too - and they know more than me about what makes a bike good.

Re: Cycling

With bikes you get a whole lot more value for money when you look 2nd hand, or at last years models if you insist on buying new. The depreciation is enough to make a grown man weep, so the serious bargains are to be found on serious bike forums or on eBay etc.

£250 on a second hand bike will probably get you something 12 months old that was nearer to £900 new in some cases! I know of a couple of decent bikes going for about that much if you're based in the West Mids.

Re: Cycling

I'd look at a good 2nd hand bike off ebay. You can get good condition bikes, worth around £700 for £400.

Would that happen to be around a lake down paths full of rocky outcrops and fallen logs?

If not, a hybrid is generally more than capable of what most people go and purchase an MTB for.
