Please tell me if there are plans to add flac and monkey format for the Media Sever soon.
Would be nice to know asap because I have 14 days to return the box.

Dear Sir,
Please visit following DLNA WEB site about supported Media Format and Transport Model:

Yvon, that means nothing. The question is WHEN IS THECUS going to support FLAC? The substandard support is unacceptable. People are going in droves because of the poor software.
Every other maker is supporting lossless, yet we are left with this old age rubbish called Mediabolic.
have you checked out the 3rd party modules ?
Hello Yvon,
I did not ask if DLNA require these, I want to know if you plan to add these.
I could care less if you supported the whole range of compressed audio/video formats. One doesn't go out buying a NAS capable of several Terabytes, and then compress audio if one love good sound. I could buy one of these small single or dual disk media boxes if I wanted to put my cd collection on mp3.
From your answer I gather that because the DLNA spec doesn't have FLAC listed, you don't care or bother to add this?
If this is the case then please specify that you do not support open formats like FLAC on a box based on linux
Plan to send a strong letter to DLNA urging them to get FLAC in on the list for any revisions. Why they left out an open format like FLAC is beyond my understanding
As datsrix is saying, I'll most likely return my N7700 and get a different NAS that actually use more modern software.
Its apparent that the N7700 was not made for the home market, so one can only speculate as to why the Media Server was even included. But then the market it was made for will find this a poor solution if you look at the rest of the software.
The hardware is great, apart from the noise which also show they didn't expect people to put it in a living room.
Exactly. It's only when people start selling their Thecus or looking at other options will Thecus get off their behind and start listening to their users instead of offering junk software like Mediabolic supporting old formats. The future is FLAC - everyone else knows it but Thecus!
Instead, its users are forced to HACK software to get it to work, of which that doesn't even work properly.
Anywhere, here is my Thecus

Great hardware, extremely poor software.
