    another 'wot cooler' please

Hi, i'm depsperate for a cheap cooler for my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ CPU. (Socket A)
As usual with these things, I need it yesterday !
    I'd appreciate recommendations please ?
My ACER case is metal, so not bothered about pretty lights etc.

    thanks all:
    Furkin

Friend of mine (who knows about such things) said that Akasa do some pretty good coolers at the lower-priced end of the spectrum

Something about 'Pax Power' and 'AK-184-L2B' - but maybe that was an AM2 product with orange fins but no flashy lights

    Thanks Bania,
I ordered the cheaper Akasa thingy from two two outlets yesterday,,,,, neither of which had them in stock after taking the order.
I've really got to get something today, as mine is playing up.
    Thanks for your help

Despite their lax attitude towards e-mails/PM/forum help,,, my product did arrive as promised. Am well chuffed.

They didn't answer 6/7 e-mails messages,,,, so I had to call to ask which courier they used. Maybe they consider the 0870 number calls as part of their profit ratio ?!

No instructions with the cooler unit - so will ask for advice on appropriate page.

If you can get by with no contact - give 'em a try.

Hi Furkin, no excuses, probably just caught us out, as for the last few days we are undergoing changes inhouse, (counters/display units/pc systems), so we havent been able to take majority of calls, emails, but were working on it to get effecient.

    thanks for that KUL,
I have a tiny problem (not your fault)

I have just fitted the Arctic Copper Silent (Socket A) to my ACER T120.

    The initial readings were:
    MB: 28 (82)
    HDD: 25 (77)
    CPU: 48 (118)

    FAN:
    Case: 3444
    CPU: 1548.
First idea is Fan too slow (should be 2200rpm), causing overheating.

That computer now closed its-self down, I assume cos of overheating.

    Any ideas please ?

    Hi,

Can you please tell me what motherboard you are using. You should be able to adjust the fan's RPM from the bios. I will await your responce then give you additional information when I know the mainboard that you are using.

    Hi Courtney,
I'm rather disappointed that you didn't call me on Saturday as you promised.
Initially I was chuffed that you were working over the weekend & would try to help me to get your product working properly.
I sent a pm to say that if you didn't have the required info, to please let me know so that I could get about my business - no reply.
I stayed by the phone all weekend.
As it stands, the item isn't doing what it says on the box.
In the circumstances, I would like a full refund & i'll try a different item/model.

Your earliest attention would be appreciated as the machine is under threat.
    thank you

    Acer Sysyem

As per our conversation on Thursday with regards to the problem that you are having with the CPU Cooler that you bought from us, I have emailed the makers of your pc and have not been afforded a responce as yet. I must apologise for not calling you on saturday. I am unable to give you any additional information until I have a copy of the mb manual for your system.

    COURTNEY - YoYo
    Thank you for your reply,

Unfortunately ACER are not well known for their speed in replying to e-mails - if at all !

YoYo replies are also hit & miss (I sent an e-mail on tue & another wed. I didn't get a reply till sat & sunday !)
If you had replied to my PM on saturday, I needn't have waited in for two days.

In the meantime, my machine is at risk.

In the circumstances, i'll purchase another cooler from somewhere else & hope that it runs properly.

    Details will be left here.
