    Re: yoyotech trojan

    Thats good news then.

Serves more of a purpose of how important Internet Security really is people. Moral of the story is, if you dont have a virus killer, also at the very least a software firewall then I would most definitly aquire one.

As I mentioned I use Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0, comes with Virus Killer/Firewall/Anti Spam/Anti Adware/Parental Control (Net Nanny) all in one.

I guess some are better than others. . . I think their is probally better software firewalls out their but Kaspersky has a very good high detection rate of viruses compared to the majority of others, a Hardware Firewall is the best if you have the money to afford one, some are rubbish some are excellent, I guess Windows built in Firewall would suffice anyway.

agreed, but even if some1 gets a software firewall it aint gonna stop a really pissed of hacker, it will just take more time to hack. a hardware firewall is a much safer bet as long as u dont port forward. routers have in built hardware firewalls.

    Re: yoyotech trojan

An old friend of mine, his actual job was to purposely try & test/hack into various hardware/router firewalls to see how really good or bad they were for the place he worked for i.e. The Goverment, I might get in touch with him to see what he says in regards to the best current hardware firewalls if anyone is interested.

    Re: yoyotech trojan

To be honest its very very hard to hack a hardware firewall even in a crappy netgear router.

The hacker here will have found a way to gain access to the FTP, if they are using SQL to auth their FTP then I would think the hacker injected code into the SQL database to either insert a new admin account or to find the current accounts and passwords. Or the hacker could have spyware on one of the systems when it logged onto the FTP, this would then give the hacker all the data it needs from the key strokes.

The tech guys at yoyo need to look back through their logs to see how this was done, that is if the hacker had not already deleted them to cover their tracks.

also change the ftp address! ftp://yoyotech.co.uk is very easy to guess and I really really hope the master account is not set to administrator.

I need to say only one word about this issue YO YO Tech Webmaster is too naive to not detect the issue mainly because files have to be checked everyday. I'm a programmer. I do sometimes some websites too and for me the file size/numbers data is given back to me 2 in 2 minutes.
