    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    11.13pm

    I have been reading the mobo manual to see if I can find the reason wjy the CPU is getting to hot, but not luck

    This is a report of the PC PRBOBE utility.

    Socket = LGA775
    Type = Central Processor
    Family = Pentium 4 Processor
    Manufacturer = Intel
    Processor ID = bfebfbff00000f34
    Version = Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz
    Voltage = 1.4 v
    External Clock = 200 MHz
    Max Speed = 3800 MHz
    Current Speed = 3400 MHz

    Cuold this be due to the Voltage set?

    Current Voltage is 1.3280v
    CPU TEMP: 52c
    System Temp: 31c
    Memory 1.900 V

    CPU Cooler: 2445rpm
    Fan 2:2481rpm
    I have a rear fan that is connected direct so not reading from mother board.

    Re: CPU temp reached 60c

    60 Degrees is not bad for a P4 3.4Ghz. I think it is rated up to 85 Degrees. If it overheats it will slow down automatically so there is nothing you need to worry about.
    My Pentium D used to run at 72'C for 7x24 and there wasn't any problem nor speed drop.

    If you buy a new processor you will need to buy new motherboard (P4 motherboards highly unlikely to support any new CPUs), new memory, new power supply (presumably) and possibly new graphics card to match the cpu power, which is pretty much a brand new machine.

    Re: CPU temp reached 60c

    Yeah, P4's run a lot hotter than C2D's, mine will usually run at 65, but that is with a cooler fitted by "The Tech Guys"....

    One day must get some paste and reseat the damn thing.

    not to worry boss, it's true these can run hotter than core designs. when i didnt have my heatsink on properly mine went up to 90! i thought it was a sensor error as it still worked! same prescott 3.4ghz! but it did drop to the 70's under heavy load after. 60 is a really good temp!

    Re: CPU temp reached 60c

    hi there, the older intel chips did run very hot....

    if you are still worried about the temp - you could always try a new heatsink and fan, something like the zalman 9700 or the tuniq tower....but the the top coolers on the market for cpu's

    thanks
