I have both a Silverston Sugo case and another micro-ATX with similar space problems (An Antec Aria)

For the Silverstone Sugo case, I used a Silverstone NT06 Cooler as Silverstone reccomened. I also started this thread looking for a PSU that would pull air throught the cooler and out of the case. I could not find one (they are all thermostaticaly controlled these days). Instead I fitted a fan to the underside of the cooler so that it pushed air up throught the fins, and into the PSU and out of the case. As my system has an Intel core duo cpu, I used the fan from the stock Intel cooler. Any fan less than 20mm thick should fit, but the large 120mm fan that comes with the NT06 is to thick, instead I intend to use it as a case fan on another system.

On the Antec system the PSU does not have many vents on the underside, so I could not use the pusher arrangement above. Instead I used a Zalman 7700ALCU Cooler that does fit in the space, though the Zalman CNPS8000 looks to be a better performer. If your existing PSU does not have a fan or vents on it's underside, then you might consider one of those.

Bear in mind that that cooler is designed to fit into a much smaller space than most. The cost and performance needs to be judged in that light. I don't have one, but it may still represent good performance for it's size.

Good choice with the NT06 - 110% better than the 03. I understand what you are saying about the 03 - but if I had to chose that or another - I would pick something else.

I have a sugo, and after reading the extremely unimpressive reviews on the Zalman 8000 i didn't think it was worth my money.

I got a standar AMD heatpipe cooler for my 3800 X2 and I have replaced the fan with a silenx, dodgy I know as it doesn't have quite enough CFM to keep it at reasonable levels. However whilst gaming the processor goes to 55 max, which would normally be way too high for me, but as it's silent I can live with it

There was a bit of a discussion regarding the fan and its orientation, as hvaing the fan blowing down would cool the heatsink better, however it goes against the flow of the PSU. So I am going to leave it as it is at the moment and see how it goes. My idle temps are around 40degrees, 10deg more than in my normal case.

So it depends whether you want cooling performance or silence. I am extremely pleased with the level of noise at the moment

I was tempted to get a Silverstone FN82 fan to replace the one on the heatsink, as I put one in to blow over the harddrives, however the FN82 is 32mm deep and would mean it was pressing against the PSU so the fan would have to suck air, but I am a bit wary as to how effective this would be...

That's got to be well inside the tollerence level for a CPU - GPUs don't melt until well over 100

The NT03's performance is decent enough for the fact it's so flipping small, which is kind of the point of the cooler.

Could you replace the stock cooler's fan with a better CFM one like one of those Noctua's? That would perhaps be ok.

Another thing is to grab the stock AMD heatpipe cooler and replace the fan on that. The heatpipe one is lush

I am going to go with one of these passive jobbies - just trying to find some research on the difference (if any) between the Thermalright and Silverstone solutions

The challenge lies somewhere in the quality of the Silverstone photography - it is so good that you end up in that 'Buying Hi-Fi cos of the coloured lights' place you last occupied as a 15 year old

Is it running and AMD CPU or Intel?

Why not move to a C2D and drop the speed down a tiny bit and voltage - and be even more secure?

Between a Thermalright and Silverstone heatsink I'd get a Thermalright.

As DR said you could nudge down the volts a bit (making sure it was stable) and it'll run cooler anyway.

Most Dual Core AMD's run off of around 1.3-1.325v at stock quite happily

You could get the sink and fit a duct?

The "High Riser" will be too big but you can see the rubber duct...
