    Re: gaining weight

    Try the 'seefood' diet.

'See' some 'food'.. and EAT IT !

2 years ago I was 23, 5'10 and 9.5 stone, a couple of years of eating pretty much everything that isn't nailed to a table and a programme of lifting heavy, heavy weights 3 times a week - i am now around 13 stone

    Re: gaining weight

Its your age... get past the 25 mark and things will change, I was a right skinny lanky thing and then about from about 21 I started to bulk up and went from 9 stone 6'2" to 13 stone. Now I have to be careful how much I eat because I will actually put on weight a lot more readily than I used to especially if I sit around playing left4dead

    Re: gaining weight

Damn I'm the same as Michael. Same height and about same weight nearing 10 stone. Been meaning to bulk up for ages. Hmm 25th bday approaching I better be careful metabolism beginning to slow down. I guess my saving grace is having to go downstairs to get snacks if I get peckish while near the computer. Running up and down those stairs got to count for something eh!

    Re: gaining weight

It's genetics, that's the way it goes.

People gain muscle easy, some people cannot gain it at all, some people cannot put on fat if they eat 4000 calories, some people will put on 2lb if they eat 2500.

There are powders which do exactly what they say, Weight Gainers, packed with carbs, sugars, protein, fats etc with crazy amount of calories per serving.

    http://www.discount-supplements.co.u...xd.asp?id=6620
    http://www.discount-supplements.co.u...xd.asp?id=4273

Don't know much about Weight Gainers, so can't give advice, but those two are the top sellers, and they have a lot of calories in them.

If you are going to be lifting while trying to bulk, your going to have to eat even more because when you lift, you'll be burning calories, and if you are eating loads now without working out and you are not putting on weight, then in order for you to put on muscle and fat, your going to have to eat 1000+ cals extra.

    Re: gaining weight

Mate I'm in the same boat as you, practically the same size and age aswell. Tried bulking up for years but all I seemed to get was a beer gut which looked a bit daft on a lanky git! Now I'm a veggie and it's pretty impossible for me to get bigger. I guess this is kind of unhelpful but as long as you're healthy and not in hospital due to your size, be happy you were born with pretty sweet genes and that you ain't a porker! Could be worse man .

Aside from eating more and doing less, is there anything I can do to put a bit of meat on my bones? Weight gain drinks? Do they exist?

eat lots of protein., peanut butter, meat ect..protein builds muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat....and eat lot fo junk food like Mc Donals, Wendys, Burgerking, Talco bell...

Everyone that eats there seem to be fat...

    Re: gaining weight

You need to learn to be happy in your skin. If I may, I'd like to sing to you the lyrics to that classic mid 80s cartoon series 'The Raggy Dolls', as I think it contains an important message for us all, but the OP especially.

It's not much of a life when you're just a pretty face,

Just to be whoever you are is no disgrace,

Don't be scared if you don't fit in...

Look who's in the reject bin!

It's the Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls!

    Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls!

    Dolls like you and me,

    Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls!

    Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls!

    Made im-per-fect-ly!

So if you got a bump on your nose or lumps on your toes, do not despair,

Be like the Raggy Dolls, and say I just don't care,

    'Cause Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls!

    Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls!

    Are happy just to be,

    Raggy Dolls, Raggy Dolls,

    Dolls like you and me!

I think we can all take something from those lyrics. Now let me see that smile...

I've been out on my bike every week for the last 6 months, lots. My waist is shrinking, but I've put on nearly a stone. Go figure...

    Re: gaining weight

Thanks for the link SiM, might see if I can motivate myself to get on the Stronglifts 5x5 for 3 months, it looks good.

I've just put on the thick end of a stone in the last two weeks- by going on an all-inclusive holiday. Unlimited free food and booze certainly helps you put on weight. I'm now about 12 1/2 stone at 5'11 and I think I look a bit better than I did when I was under 12 stone so I'm going to try and stay at this weight and put on a bit more muscle (or maybe go to 13 stone if necessary).
