    Smile C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    A while ago i created a system called C-Macc's which was a Arcade Jamma based around a Jap candy cab which played nearly all games ever. The whole problem though was that i was never 100%$ happy with it and it was not a scratch build. It was probably the only system out there that did every thing but it was not that good. So in my infinite wisdom i began to design and remake it from start and work from the ground up. Now i already did a frame but again i wasn't happy with it once i stood next to it so i have started again from scratch with a new design concept.

    Bellow ill show some pics of the first design that i have ended up scrapping and then onto my new build log for C-Macc's 2 hope you enjoy. If you have any questions ill answer them as much as possible.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    These are some Pics from the original work done on c-macc's

    This was more of a electrical project and was not to bad to make. all the systems were turned on and off remotely and when 1 system was on all the others were turned off. any way it got on engadget , hackaday and many other media related sites and some mags as well all though like i say above i was never really that happy with it. It now resides in my girls bedroom and they play on it all the time.

    I-Macc's

    This was my next project that i started a few weeks back but once i half finished the frame work i decided to "can" the idea as again i wasn't happy. Here are some pics of the concept and the frame work.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Sketchup?

    Brings back memories of my dad getting fed up of me breaking quickshot joysticks on my spectrum, so he got hold of an industrial heavy duty joystick, a couple of buttons that looked like they came out of an arcade machine and wire it up into a metal box with big rubber feet.
    It was very solid and heavy and I never managed to break that
    Years later after I'd stopped using the specy, I lent the joystick to a "friend" and I've never seen it since

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Game Ex software is what i used to help run the emulators of C-Macc's system i have built which is in this moths CPC mag and all so in my build logs for C-Macc's. I will be Using the same Software in C-Macc's 2 to run all the emulators again. This time ill go into more details about the setting up the software and what it can do when the time is right.

    http://www.gameex.net

    GameEx is a graphical DirectX based front-end for MAME , Zinc, Daphne, PC Games, and all command line based emulators, along with being a complete Home Theatre PC solution, especially when gaming is a priority or important. It also makes a good CarPC frontend. The original goal was for it to be used on Windows XP Media Center and also Arcade Cabinets . It will run on any version of Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP and Vista. You don't need Windows Media Center to run GameEx.
    Again if any one else fancy sponsoring this project then please let me know. My last project C-Macc's gained well in excess of 1/2 million views on several websites and has hit TV media in USA and press media in the UK / USA / France / Germany and has hit many internet sites such as engadget. Just imagine how much exposure that is going to give your company for helping me out with hardware.

    to finish a couple extra pics of the updated cp -

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Ummm no, I ment what did you use to create the images?
    You could hardly use Sketchup to run the emulators as it's a simple (and free) 3d CAD package which is why I wondered if you'd made these images on it?

    Yip i just learned to play with Sketchup last week and after playing with it a bit i manged to recreate what i was after. If i did this before i started it would have save me some money but that is life. It has taken approx 4 hours to do the whole model and films. Im used to 3d programs as i done some levels for serious sam and UT in my past so it wasn't to hard to use. Think my only problem was getting to do faces instead of cutting out blocks lol ..

    Actually I have a sugestion, back the back double walled, so you can hide all the wires running into and out of each console / pc

    If you understand what I mean.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Yeh i understand what you mean i have only just got to the stage in Sketch of adding the pc components. The system will be water cooled and the way the pc is placed in the box is incorrect as it will facing the other way around.
    The windows on this side need adjusting as well. But the basics will be the PC will be placed on a slide out draw and you will have access to it from the front. Were it has 2 door at the bottom are going to be one lift off door giving you full access to the pc system. The PC system wont be specked up till the whole frame work is done as this is going to take time.

    I love this sketch its opening up so many possibility's and will save me a fortune in the long run.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    just ordered the steel today oh my how much has it shot up by. The price has gone up through the roof. I ordered 3 x 3 meters 2" x 1" x 2.5mm thickness and it cost me £65 plus delivery. Its going to take a few weeks to get as well so ill be holding back and awaiting its arrival. The price of stuff is just going mental here in the UK atm and lots of ppl seem to be fretting.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    UltraStik from Ultimarc which is a full digital joystick ... for pc gaming as well and the buttons are Sanwa with 5v leds leaf swich.

    Price to build the new system well im not gonna say any more but its more than c-macc's cost lol ...

    The specs of the joystiks are as follows -

    * True analog "engine". Full-motion "flight-stick" type control for todays games for which a switch-type stick is simply not enough.
    * On-board high-speed USB 2.0 interface. No need for any special interface board.
    * State-of-the-art sensing technology. No pots or other electrical contacts to wear out
    * User-definable IDs allow 4 joysticks to be plugged into a PC and individually controlled.
    * On-board interface which can optionally be used in two auto-detecting modes:
    * Input mode: Allows connection of up to 8 buttons per joystick.
    * Output mode: Allows joystick to be connected to an interface such as the I-PAC, to replace a standard switch-type joystick.
    * Sends analog data via USB to the PC either alongside the above modes, or when the auxiliary interface is not used.
    * User-definable mappings. 9 X 9-cell matrix ovelayed onto the analog motion allows 4-way, 8-way or any other maps to be created and stored semi-permanently in flash ROM.
    * Each cell can be set to any of 8 directions, centered, analog, or "sticky".
    * Any number of maps can be created so you could have special mappings for different games if you wish.
    * No need for any other stick as the UltraStik can operate in ANY mode, 4-way, 8-way, 2-way, 45 degree mode or any special mode you wish to define.
    * Maps downloaded instantly to joystick via USB and this can be done in the background when starting a game.
    * User-upgradeable firmware, downloadable via the web, for future updates.
    * Advanced configuration program allows creation and storage of maps, assignment of ID, and has a test facility.
    * Standard mounting hole pattern. Available with ball or bat-top handles
    * Polished chromium plated shafts.
    * Fast on-board 24 Mhz processor performs automatic calibration, linearization and all other functions.
    * 14 bit analog-to-digital conversion for maximum resolution.
    * Customize your stick! Two different mechanical restrictor plates can optionally be fitted, for mechanically-limited 4, 8 or "reduced travel" analog operation, for those who prefer a hardware-limited stick.
    * Optional longer handles available
    * Optional extra-stiff spring available
