    This is looking really good
    What sort of surface finish are you going to use for that top?
    Would be really nice in thick purspex but costly
    Nice work on the sponsership

    EDIT: Are thoes joysticks the twisty kind? I remember playing a few top down shooter games where the rotation controlled the direction you faced independantly from the direction you moved in.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    There are two different joysticks being used from http://www.ultimarc.com.

    The first type is the UltraStick 360 which is a programmable digital joystick. what this means is say im playing a game that only has left and right movement, say like arknoid the joysticks can be programed via software on the fly to only limit to left and right. The UltraStick 360 can all so have up to 8 buttons fitted to them directly so that i do not need a controller just for the buttons were as Analogue i have to use a pcb board called a I-pac to have mappable buttons. The UltraStick can allso be programmed to act as a Analogue stick as well so that it is only 4 way of 8 way detectable which is brilliant for different games such as pac man and street fighter.

    to be honist this is the full feature list of the UltraStick 360

    # True analog "engine". Full-motion "flight-stick" type control for todays games for which a switch-type stick is simply not enough.
    # On-board high-speed USB 2.0 interface. No need for any special interface board.
    # State-of-the-art sensing technology. No pots or other electrical contacts to wear out
    # User-definable IDs allow 4 joysticks to be plugged into a PC and individually controlled.
    # On-board interface which can optionally be used in two auto-detecting modes:
    # Input mode: Allows connection of up to 8 buttons per joystick.
    # Output mode: Allows joystick to be connected to an interface such as the I-PAC, to replace a standard switch-type joystick.
    # Sends analog data via USB to the PC either alongside the above modes, or when the auxiliary interface is not used.
    # User-definable mappings. 9 X 9-cell matrix ovelayed onto the analog motion allows 4-way, 8-way or any other maps to be created and stored semi-permanently in flash ROM.
    # Each cell can be set to any of 8 directions, centered, analog, or "sticky".
    # Any number of maps can be created so you could have special mappings for different games if you wish.
    # No need for any other stick as the UltraStik can operate in ANY mode, 4-way, 8-way, 2-way, 45 degree mode or any special mode you wish to define.
    # Maps downloaded instantly to joystick via USB and this can be done in the background when starting a game.
    # User-upgradeable firmware, downloadable via the web, for future updates.
    # Advanced configuration program allows creation and storage of maps, assignment of ID, and has a test facility.
    # Standard mounting hole pattern. Available with ball or bat-top handles
    # Polished chromium plated shafts.
    # Fast on-board 24 Mhz processor performs automatic calibration, linearization and all other functions.
    # 14 bit analog-to-digital conversion for maximum resolution.
    # Customize your stick! Two different mechanical restrictor plates can optionally be fitted, for mechanically-limited 4, 8 or "reduced travel" analog operation, for those who prefer a hardware-limited stick.

    The second set of sticks are arcade Sanwa Sticks which what are used in all the top arcade systems now a days. These sticks have two selectable settings, available by turning over the restrictor plate, which has a chamfered hole. Another nice feature is the long switch actuators which allow exact "tuning" of the switch sensitivity with careful use of long-nosed pliers. Operates in 8-way or true 4-way mode by rotating the restrictor.

    All 4 sticks can be used together in 4 players games at the same time. I can get the sire and Twisty joysticks but i don't relay like them to be honest. I do how ever has a Spintrak spinner which has a weighted system and feels really good to the touch that is brilliant.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Well a massive fu?? Up on my part. while fitting the CP back and forth working on dimensions i caught the spintrak wire and basically ripped it out. The damage is in the pic below.

    [COLOR="blue"]

    ----------
    i didnt know the wire lay out so i took a multi meter and figured it all out.

    from left to right ..

    Left =5v
    next = x1
    next = Ground
    last = x2

    so then i basically i ground down the broken trace then used window quick silver which is the same stuff used for trace repair. left it 5 min then soldered new wires. Tested and working fine .. thank god ...

    happy as larry.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Yeh i changed it down to 2 players now as when i built up the 4 player and started working on it it was way to big and didn't look right at all. It was like a nice TV and slim frame then a massive CP ... Me and my lass stood there and just looked at each other and started laughing so that was a bad sign straight away lol ...

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Have you considered some how making the 3rd and 4th controller (stick and buttons) detachable?
    Just thinking back years ago my dad got fed up with me breaking quickshot joysticks when palying my specy, so he built me one.
    It was a steel box with an industrial joystick (looked like an arcade stick, but thicker without a nob on the top, it used heavy duty micro swtiches) and a couple of heavy duty industrial buttons.

    Granted not really usable standing up, maybe mount them on some type of arm that slides out?

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Yeh pob255 i was thinking about that today hehe. But after looking again i thought it might not be a good idea. You can all ways use the xbox 360 sticks to allow 4 player via the USB ports on the side of via the xbox 360 wirless converter i have.. a few more pics. Still working on the CP just added the base (not permanently though) Did some more work sanding down as you can see from the wood work my skills are real poor but at least im giving it ago. I still need to some how tail the back end off as i relay am not happy at the way it looks at the back end when fitted.

    I wont be able to have the draw for the Joy pads but thats fine as i can add one in the main body. Still loads of work to do but pics below any way for you all to lol at my bad wood working stills but good wood filling skills .... lol

    Last pic you can see i played with my new router hehehe .. i love its lol .. ill be routing every thing round the home now.

    Need to go tidy the kitchen before the lass gets home else shell kill me ...

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    Been working a little more.

    The CP has been Shrunk by 2.5" and the Frame arms have been cut by 2".

    The Back peace has now got a False wall of 1.5" to allows cables to be hidden behind it. 1 Shelf inside has been added will do the second and third Hidden shelf for the electrics another time and loads of wood filler has been used again lol ...

    Still loads of work to do but shes starting to take shape now.

    Re: C-Macc's 2 Scratch Build

    A bit more work done. The keyboard tray has been made and installed. Cannot fit a side draw for the console pas as there is just not enough room which is just a shame. Started to smooth off the wood for the CP and spray painted the cp with a under count just to protect it for now. Pics below of the work on the cp so far.

    Still more work to do but until I get the rest of the parts I need for the CP this is the limit of work I can do for now….. Its now all down to when others can either deliver my parts or finish off the work that ive requested to be done ….
