How many of you enjoyed Avatar 3D??

I thought it was a really great experience and the 3D effects were really well done. Looks like it is going to become a very successful film too:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8447839.stm

It seems some people really hate it though:

What do members of Hexus rate the film??

I really enjoyed it myself, story was a bit weak in how ships armed to the hilt were brought down by a swarm of creatures I thought ... But other then that it was very good and the best 3d film i've seen to date!

I voted for "An average film made great by the 3D effects"

3D was good, although annoying for the first hour as it hurt my eyes.

Not the best film I've seen though, 3d or not.

Question : Is it worth seeing if you can't see it in 3D? My local cinemas don't have it in 3D.

Haven't seen it an have no immediate plans to do so. 3D holds no interest for me at all and I certainly wouldn't go for that, and I can't say what I've heard about the film has me jumping with excitement.

Re: How many of you enjoyed Avatar 3D??

Definately an average film with special effects. Watched it in French (which I am not fluent in) I was still able to follow the plot. This coul dhave been another Aliens rather it seems to be more titanic.

I have a feeling as 3d becomes mainstream this one will slip ack into obscurity ala final fantasy spirits within.

Personally, the visuals were superb, everything else was average.

Average script, with some truly awful dialogue, some of which was awfully delivered. But teh 3d really did give a sense of depth to the foliage and the planet in general.

It was a bit sore on the eyes at times though.

The glasses really hurt my nose after a while The film was slightly ruined for me by the last knife fight (just no need, I know it's a Hollywood blockbuster but it can be slightly different to every other film if it wants!), but a generally good film that looked stunning.

Re: How many of you enjoyed Avatar 3D??

Well I saw it in 2d, it was ok, I was more annoyed but it than my other half was, it was towards the end, the whole *spoiler*
We've got load of people armed with bows&arrows and spears, I know lets do a head on charge against people with fully automatic weapons and gunships.
Not even some basic tatics like, lets drop rocks or logs through the rotor blades.
I swear that the only way the soilder lost the use of his leg must of been because he managed to shoot himself in the spine, that or he was so carp that his squad mates shot him before he got them all killed

I can see where it would of looked good in 3d, esp. some scenes, but I don't think it lost that much for 2d.

Re: How many of you enjoyed Avatar 3D??

I thought it was an average film, regurgitation of every other aliens invade world and get beaten movie, and wasn't impressed by the 3d at all. I was at the side of the cinema and it didn't work at all, which means the technology is not good enough at the moment.

That said, I still think its a film worth watching and try to sit in the middle of the cinema if you want 3d.

Re: How many of you enjoyed Avatar 3D??

Visually impressive, 3D was ok but gave me a cracking post film headache and also seemed blurred if you looked to the edges of the screen.

Story? You mean there was one? Predictable, cheesy and too damn long.

Worth watching if you've a few hours to waste, but in no way would I class it as essential viewing.

Re: How many of you enjoyed Avatar 3D??

An awesome spectacle of light and sound which has obviously benefited from years of loving attention to detail, let down by a bland, hackneyed plot full of clichés and unsubtle moralising.

In no way do I regret going to see it once but I doubt I'll watch it again before it comes on TV.

Re: How many of you enjoyed Avatar 3D??

I was torn on the vote; I thought it was a good film... but the 3D definitely helped my opinion on that! The 3D experience was definitely what influenced my decision in going to watch it initially, normally such a film (going by the trailer) wouldn't have really caught my attention. But after seeing it I'm glad I did.

Overall I enjoyed the film despite it being quite predictable! I think considering everything that went into it and the length of the movie that it held my attention and the 3D aspect gave a good immersive feeling. Definitely recommended, it would be interesting to see how the film faired up when watched in the front room environment!
