The Half Life 2: Episode One thread..

So..

Today's the day isn't it? I'm all preloaded but i'll not get to play it till friday (as i'm a good boy during the week) so i'd be interested to know what people think of it? I preloaded it last week and fired up steam last night which then duly downloaded another 70megs of something-or-another for it. Personally i'm really looking forward to it - HL2 was pretty much gaming nirvana for me

yeah, i am looking forward to it also

however, im going to wait until after my exams to play it, to save the experience

i feel it will be better than the hl2 experience for me because i really dont know anything about the storyline of this one whereas with hl2 i had read hundreds of previews and reviews before i played it so alot of the storyline was not exciting as i already knew what was coming

Yeah I know what you mean there - i've been avoiding any sort of preview (or even screenshots) for that very reason.

I am not really excited about it really, lost cost was boring, and the original hl2 lack the story, I lost intrest quickly in the game.

I am sure its fun to play for few hours, but cant see myself finishing it

Loved HL2, but then it was also rather good value.

Even buying it direct for 18 dollars it just doesn't seem worth it for the gameplay length. I may see if all three come out in a bundle later on.

Lost coast was just a tech demo for HDR - nothing more. I've still yet to play an FPS that kept throwing new ideas at me as well as HL2 did..

I won't be able to play it till after my exams anyway... so might as well wait till then - plus it will probably go down by a fiver too.

Depending on how long you have until the end of exams, I'd buy it now tbh. It's a few pounds cheaper before the release date, and I can't see it getting cheaper for a good few months, unless it's bundled with something else.

Yep - it's released worldwide at the same time, so obviously, midnight in america or somewhere won't be midnight here at the same time.
