Exactly what has changed with Half Life: Source?

I got this quote from EBGames http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/editorial...p?pf_id=243836

Actually, Half-Life Source adopts the same character and weapon models from Blue Shift (which were notably improved from the original's). So, in all: Half-Life Source is Half-Life with improved character and weapon models, the Havok physics engine, improved water visuals, same lighting, same background visuals (MAYBE a little improved, I'm not entirely sure on that). There you go.
Is this all that has changed? How much difference does it actually make? Are there any screenshots anywhere?

Someone else on those forums says that the game is going to be entirely remade (i.e. with new graphics) in the style of Half Life 2. This sounds like idle speculation to me, could it be true?

I didn't buy Blue Shift, but I got Half Life off Steam last night using the CD key from my original disk. Will I have the updated BLue Shift models or not?

    Soooo many questions

to be fair, hl source comes with dod source, at a cost of $10 (5 quid) more than without.

not to mention that there are many great remakes, such as the gamecube version of resident evil

Is DOD: Source going to be in the CE pack in the UK?

Not to be awkward, but what's that got to do with my question? I'm just curious as to what Source has added.

buggered if i know, it's far easier for me just to buy the silver pack on steam.

you phrased it such that a mere graphical update isn't enough for you. i suggested that there are plenty of good mere graphical updates, and gave an example of one (which added one small extra section too, if memory serves)

I was only expecting a graphical update (I've also realised I misunderstood what you said, no probs ). The Source update seems to add more, such as the Havok physics engine, but has only updated some of the textures. This is why, to me anyway, the snazzy water looks a little out of place. I was just wondering what else has changed, that's all.

BTW, I'm sure things will be different once it's moving and fullscreen, so don't think I'm ranting at anyone. I would love to play Half Life again with updated graphics. I think Source should enhance the game in a way id probably wanted to do with Doom (199)3.

There's a slightly more detailed discussion of this same issue here Some of my comments about the textures are echoed.

Personally, I am going for either the CE version on DVD (which is slated to be the same as the Silver pack via Steam) or the Silver pack. I am so excited about Half-Life:Source that I might just play it before I play HL2.

The differences between the CE version and the Gold edition off Steam (including shipping from the states) would make that the world's most expensive T-shirt
