    Re: Recon's - 3XS X58 Core i7 Build

Had some spare time this evening to install some games

    Eve online
    Team fortress 2
    Mirrors edge

Get really bad crackles / pops and a high pitch squeal through my speakers
FPS on all the games above must be around 5 up to maybe 15 max

Run the 3dmark06 benchmark thats on my desktop and got the awesome score of 3299
nothing close to the 21888 quoted on the build support web page

I think theres something really wrong
Will call support again from work tomorrow

    Update
    *****

I have spoken to the customer and advised there are FPS issues with the latest TF2 patch, the scores are too low as well in 3Dmark 06, customer will be reloading the system to confrm if its a hardware or software fault

If hardware the system will be collected Monday and worked on as a priority

    Re: Recon's - 3XS X58 Core i7 Build

    Hi Recon

I have been in touch with Foxconn and there is a setting in the bios that the system keeps losing which we suspect is causing the performance drop ,this appears to be an intermittent issue...

We have seen similar issues with other manufacturers bioses so are confident that this should sort the issue out

Foxconn will be sending over a new modified bios file to hopefully get around this issue in the morning so I will keep you updated

    Regards

    Ben

    **Update**

The Bios update from Foxconn unfortunately hasnt resolved the problem
We will continue to work on a solution with Foxconn but in order to get the system turned around quickly we are replacing the customers board for the Asus Rampage II which he is more than happy with

Not a bad result... the Rampage II is a better board, but the blood iron is prettier, (if you don't have it covered by heatsinks)

    Hi Recon

Your system has been tested today with the new Rampage Board the 3.8Gig Overclock and the 2 x GTX295 Cards and all tests have passed fine on the 26" Test Monitor we have "Borrowed"

And look at what we have achieved ! The 3DMark Vantage Score is below

    Cheers

    Re: Recon's - 3XS X58 Core i7 Build

    Hi Ben

    Not good news

City link arrived this morning with my PC
Heres some nice pictures of it in my hall

The box is the correct way up but the PC inside was upsidedown

Look like theres some damage to the front flapy thing, A looks a bit bent at the swing join

And the best part is the top graphics card was not in its correct place

The screws have been pulled out
I found them rattling around inside the case near the psu
I plugged the gpu back in, The screws no longer fit in the holes to secure it, the holes have been enlarged from the damage of the screws being ripped out

    Windows loads fine

    Running 3dmark06 i got this

Running 3dmark vantage it crashes when it gets to the cpu test 1
I think the CPU is broken again, As when running the cpu tests in 3dmark06 the fps was pretty low

After 2 crashes i switched it all off and packed it back up ready for collection

The fan that sits over the memory squeals like anything, Think it needs an oiling

    Will call you on Monday
