Thanks for the responses, I have installed the 17 bios from a file with the same name, are there two different 17 bios with the same file name? If so, im more than willing to reflash and try.
As for the speed, I have been waiting to try to resolve the bios temp issues before i try to totally play, but i have been running the chip at 3.2 (8 x 400) and it has been completely stable on stock voltage and minimal temp increase. ( 1-2 C increase from stock benchmarks)
Just trying to decide what to do if Abit doesnt have a bios update. No I remember why I buy mainly Asus boards.
abit is out of the mobo business now (a fact that was known beforehand for a few months).Just trying to decide what to do if Abit doesnt have a bios update. No I remember why I buy mainly Asus boards.
However, over the years I've been happier with their BIOS support than the Asus that I have owned - sure Asus released more but many of them (when you could actually download from their poor site) were junk, imo no more than betas really.
I have been reading a lot about overclocking and I'm sorry if I still don't get it. Can some people clear some things up for me? Can someone tell or share with me what settings I should have when overclocking. I would like to hit 3.6 or more.
This is what my computer has:
Case:Antec P182
Motherboard: Abit IP35 Pro
Processor: q6600
Memory: OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
Hard Drives: 2 wd 7500aaks
Power Supply: Corsair hx620
Heatsink: Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme with Scythe S Flex(Pushing)
Video card: xfx 7600gs
Burner: Samsung SH-S230b
BIOS Ver:14
I did adjust settings in Bios to 334X9 and got 3.1ghz
and I adjusted my ran setting to what is on this website

I would be greatful for any other input
Thank you
welcome
1. every setup even with supposedly the same hardware will behave differently. Therefore people can give you an indication of their settings but they may not be what your system needs for the same.
2. just by blindly following what someone else tells you to do won't really help you to learn overclocking. It helps to have at least some basic understanding of why doing something has an effect on something else & tbh that mostly comes with reading (there is a good tutorial with a quad as a sticky here at Hexus) & experience.
3. probably the limiting factor on your IP35 Pro with a quad is going to be your PWM temps.
As stock I would suggest that you aim for something like 3.4 rather than 3.6+ for 24/7.
That sounds like a good idea. I would be happy with 3.4. I did mess with the voltage settings and tried to run the prime 95 tests and my computer would restart every time. I guess I should really get into that sticky. I didn't realize how hard this would be. It seems like its only a few settings, but they have to be just right.
Thank you
I was one of the lucky one's my Q6600 will boot at 3.85ghz, but is prime stable @ 3.61Ghz.
The main thing is sorting the onboard chipset cooling, I have added 3 fans specially for this purpose and it works a treat. The little 60mm amber fans from Scan work a treat and are much quiter than any other fans I've used.
I'm at work now but will post my settings later with an explanation of why I have set things as I have. Please do not go directly to my settings, small steps and test is the best way, or else you may have a costly burn out!!!!
Query:
I have flashed every single IP35 Pro BIOS update using the Windows utility, I know this is sacrilege of the worst kind but thankfully nothing has happened to date, every update went like clock work. However, I keep getting a nagging feeling that perhaps something terrible is going on in the background, is it? Every thing checks out okay, my temps are 29 - 35 DC across the board, so hopefully I'm just being paranoid.
Thanks.
if everything seems fine it's just you being paranoid.
Flashmenu is 1 of the better "flash in Windows" utilities & should work it's just that flashing in Windows is inherently less safe than doing it in DOS.
Hello,
I would like to update the drivers for my IP35 Pro, in particular GigaLAN and RealTek audio but the links above ask for username and password and i have no idea what they are.
I also tried downloading straight from abit website but with no luck.
Can anyone advise me?
Many thanks,
Fabrice
so why don't you go straight to Realtek?
