Re: BIOS updates for Intel E0 stepping

Hello everybody., is very pleased to be here, which I read a lot but I've never been registered.

I belong to OverclockingArgetnina Oc Team that participates in hwbot.com

Please have patience because my English is bad, especially for writing it, I speak Spanish

Well, I want to respond to Chuck by my comment in XtremeSystem, which for my bad English, gave no details of the problem we encounter with the Bios 17 using an E8600.

I wonder what his reasons are for saying it's bad?
Read badly microprocessor temperature (103 ° C) and No dividers were added more memories, such as the P35 P, I expected some more, For the other 17 bios works properly, and perform many benchs with this Bios, but disable the reading of the temperature of the microprocessor

No detailed comment on my XS because it was not my daughter, who speaks (write and read) English , sorry

A greeting to all and thank you for letting me take part in forum

P.D: I love this mobo, just need to improve the bios and will be the best.

Re: BIOS updates for Intel E0 stepping

    Well.
I hope that the new BIOS for the IP35 PRO is now fixed and I hope that it works well for those who try it with an E8600 or another E0 stepping CPU.
    I'm past that point.
The E8600 has found a new place to mount itself:

    http://www.theraptorpit.com/forum/in...showtopic=2674

and the Q6600 is happy being back home.
Maybe I just jumped on the bandwagon too quick.
    Que Sera Sera!

Re: BIOS updates for Intel E0 stepping

    Abit_NL,

do you know about this case?:

Abit's engineers received long time ago informations that Abit's IP35 mainboards series have got onerous problem: dual boots appeared too frequency than in the other P35 mainboards. After a bios no. 12 (13 and next) a problem with frequent dual boots was fixed by Abit.

Unfortunately some users sent to you reports later that after disabling power supply from pc and turning them (power supply and pc) on, bios runs with the previous (overclocked) configuration but Windows / Linux runs with the default configuration, not overclocked configuration. In that case helps turning off pc and turning on again (then loads configuration from bios) but without disabling power supply of course.

Moreover, when you will try reset a pc which is running with the "fsb reset in Windows issue" by pushing the button on the pc case, pc doesn't restart. Mainboard starts squeaking and then you have to disable power supply for turn off a pc.

I reached to conclusion that Abit's engineers maked mistake in adjusting dual boots in the Abit's IP35 mainboards.

    When dual boots SHOULD appear:

    1. When you install a new hardware on the mainboard (processor, ram) (In the Abit's IP35 that is OK - dual boot happens)
    2. When you change the bios configuration (In the Abit's IP35 that is OK - dual boot happens)
    3. When you power on computer after disable power supply (In the Abit's IP35 that IS BAD - mainboard starts without dual boot)

I think improvement the dual boot occurrence in the Abit's IP35's bios will fix a problem with the "fsb reset in Windows". Each P35 mainboard starts with the double boot after disabling supply, only Abit's IP35 no...
This is a part of email which I sent to Abit. Could Abit fix this problem?

My Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 have EXACLY the same problem. If i turn off my power supply i lost my pre-defined vCORE, and the PC load the Windows with the stock vCORE (BSOD).

    http://forums.hexus.net/abit-care-he...lem-vcore.html

After just reboot the PC everything loads fine. Looks like not just my Abit FP-IN9 have this problem, those IP35 too... It´s a shame.....

    Take care man...

Re: BIOS updates for Intel E0 stepping

He's the only one that I've seen.
That's the guy that was over at ABIT.
Funny thing is that he is running the BIOS dated 5/26/08 which would be old 17.
The updated ones should read 9/25/08.
His board no. W83627DHG is the same as mine.
Revision 1.0, A2. Same as mine.
This is kind of strange here because I tried the RH BIOS and still had 8.7.
A little while ago I tried old 17 and ended up with 8.7.
I lost count but I think I've done 8 flashes now - different files or sources- a few with floppy and a few with file and tried 2 different BIOS chips. All flashed perfectly without issue and work with a Q6600 and an E8400 C1.

The beta Bios in IP35-E is work nearly perfect with E8400 E0 in NON OVERCLOCK CONDITION. Once you touch the Vmch, you will knew there is a minor flaw there. Vmch Bios input is lower than ACTUAL Vmch.

    Well.
If you read my thread over at TRP, then you well know that I flashed 10 times with 6 different files and two diffrerent fully functional BIOS chips using both floppy installs as well as downloading from files.
Every BIOS worked perfectly with both my Q6600 and E8400 (C0) - barring a few temp discrepancies.
    So.
    What's up ABIT?

Not 18, but the file from Abit_NL. With bios 18 cpu temp are too high, temps with new bios are okay, 33 cpu, 40 with coretemp.

The file from ABIT_NL was the first one that I used. Twice.

So I guess the new IP35 PRO BIOS for E0 only works with E8500 and E8400 E0?

Re: BIOS updates for Intel E0 stepping

Well, I can confirm the beta for the IP35 / -E will at least function with an E8400 E0 stepping.

Unfortunately, as pointed out earlier, you cannot adjust vMCH. Well, you can but it doesn't do any good. ALMOST booted at 4GHz with stock Vcore. The -E needs more MCH voltage at that point (FSB of 445) and it couldn't get there b/c of memory dumps. The memory is fine where it was at and unstable CPU overclocks just crash, not give memory dumps, so that confirms to me that vMCH doesn't adjust. Tried all the way up to 1.45v (way more than is needed for that FSB) and it wouldn't work.

Fortunately, the -E is good up to ~425 or so. Made it to 3.8GHz with stock Vcore and MCH.

So, it does indeed work; just not without issues.
