Exclamation A-Bit AN9-32X 9.0/C1 error code

Hi thanks for taking the time to read my post

I recently installed a 9800 gt and vista everything was nice for a while, then i got my first crash while playing a game. "Nvlddmkm.dll has stopped responding and has successfully recovered" error message popped up. These got more and more frequent so I decided to look around and found this was quite a common problem so i tried all known workarounds but nothing worked (including reverting back to XP).

I decided to try and take the GPU back and swapped it for another 9800 gt an inno3d version this time, put it into my abit fatal1ty an9-32x and was perfectly happy for around 30 minutes, then all of a sudden my pc cut out whilst in the middle of a game. I tried to power it back up but was greeted by a blank screen so I cant get to bios or anything. Post code reports 9.0 sometimes but other times when i boot up i get C 1.

Have tried clearing the cmos with the jumper, taking battery and all atx power connectors out and replacing it all then booting up again but nothing. Also tried taking out the new GPU and it doesnt halt at 9.0 or C 1 when i boot up without it. Haven't got a spare to test with yet.

Im running with

Vista
A-Bit fatal1ty an9-32x
OCZ Nvidia SLi ready memory
Processor is AMD AM2 socket no idea of model number sorry
450w hiper PSU

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S have had no previous problems with this setup when using my old 9500 gt, but haven't got it at the moment to test with.

>> 450w HIPER PSU << ??

W.T.F, dude i guess that your PSU just killed your mootherboard! Is that PSU brand good ?

Dont know man how are your voltages? 3.3v 5v and most important the 12v? Try another PSU .

Good Luck

Re: A-Bit AN9-32X 9.0/C1 error code

Nice setup you got there. im quite new to building systems this is my first full build.

I was happy with it until upgrading my gpu now its nothing but headaches. i assumed hiper was a decent well heard of brand.

Are you saying the psu isnt powerful enough to cope?

like i said though if i remove the new gpu the error code doesnt hang on 9.0 or C 1 it just boots as normal, no on-board or spare to test with. everything is receiving power including the gpu (fan is spinning) just no picture and post codes hanging at 9.0 or C 1.

Thumbs up Re: A-Bit AN9-32X 9.0/C1 error code

Hi man,

Thanks i also like my RIG, it´s quite old but have good performance, for sure i will use it for some 2 years before change anything. For the games i play, it very good.

Man about your system, i really believe that your PSU is causing your problems. See your 9500GT is a low power VGA, so everything was ok!

But the 9800GT is a power hungry VGA, and looks like your PSU cant handle it. Did you notice that your have problems after the 9800GT was running, before with the 9500GT it was ok.

You must see that your CPU and VGA are Power hungry devices, AMD X2 and 9800GT suck power on the 12v trail and you will need a good PSU.

Can you get another PSU? For tests purposes? Zalman, OCZ, CORSAIR, 7Team, all are nice PSU makers.

Good Luck !

Would it have booted up and played games for over 30 minutes though? That is whats stumping me i would have assumed if power was the problem it would never have ran in the first place. But as i say i really am a novice. So thanks for the advice im not trying to second guess you, im just a little weary of going and paying out for a new PSU before ive had chance to eliminate other things. What wattage would you suggest 500+ 600+ or 700+?

Re: A-Bit AN9-32X 9.0/C1 error code

Yes i agree with you, whould be horrible to buy a brand new PSU and dont fix the damm problem.

That´s why i asked you if you can get another PSU for testing purposes. It whould be nice if you could test the RIG with another PSU before go and buy a brand new one.

About the 30 min "working", that means nothing actually. The PSU could work for some time before it 'goes into a crash', and i´m guessing that the problem is the PSU.

A question, if you put the 9500GT the system work? Try to understand the meaning os this code on the mother board.

See ya !

Re: A-Bit AN9-32X 9.0/C1 error code

I´m looking about some info on this HYPER PSU units, can you get the EXACLY model of the PSU ?

This looks to be the manufacturer WEB SITE ! Actually maybe the PSU is good, but we must confirm that !

http://www.hipergroup.com/home.php

The PSU model ?

Did you make a full clear cmos using the new VGA after the problem?

Also what BIOS version are you using for your motherboard? You could make a BIOS UPDATE to see if the problems go away. If you make it, do it in DOS mode.

Good Luck !

Re: A-Bit AN9-32X 9.0/C1 error code

I'm going to agree with the possibility of your PSU being the problem.
It probably isn't a "true" 450W to start with plus I had a nominally 580W Hiper fail on me after about 18 months (RMA was no problem though ).

Re: A-Bit AN9-32X 9.0/C1 error code

Im from England my friend

No, I have no other psu to test with and my 9500 gt is at my brothers house.

I have ordered myself a OCZ psu and its on its way to me, 880 watt (with 8 pin pci-e connectors) just incase i want to upgrade anything else add more HDD's etc in the future.

Thanks again for the advice guys, ill keep you posted.

Update: Just checked my PSU and its actually a Hiper 580w TYPE M (HPU-4M580) not the 450w i first assumed :S could this still be the problem? A speedy reply would be appreciated so i can cancel the order of my new PSU.

I have 2 HDD's, a DVD-RW, 9800 gt running off it, as i said in earlier post everything was fine with my 9500gt.

Another update: Just checked inno3d's website and they say a minimum amp of 30 amps is recommended. My PSU says on it "+12v1 20A" "+12v2 18A".

Re: A-Bit AN9-32X 9.0/C1 error code

If you can get in to the BIOS you could check the valtage rails, 3.3v 5v ans most important 12v.

This is not the best test, because the machine will be in iddle in the BIOS. But you can get a ideia of the problem. If the voltage trail is more or less than 5%, then you have problems.

Example: 12v rail with 12.8v ou 11.2v

If you can get into Windows, Install Everest Ultimate and open the stress test. You can monitore the voltages and run a 3DAMARK 06 to stress CPU and VGA.

If any voltage is weird and unstable the PSU is killing you hardware.

How many years your PSU have?

Good Luck !

Re: A-Bit AN9-32X 9.0/C1 error code

Ok so i did some testing today. First i took out my graphics card + 1 stick of ram and put my old 9500 gt back in. To my surprise the same error code popped up and got nothing but a blank screen, so i decided to try my brothers ram but only one stick.

Rebooted and everything booted up fine. Then i tried my new graphics card in my brothers pc with only 1 stick of his ram, but nothing same blank screen.

So i concluded both my ram and GPU were both faulty. Sent my ram back through RMA and bought myself a new set, corsair 4gb this time + new PSU 680w corsair + replacement GPU (same 9800 gt different brand though palit or something). Installed it all and im happy to report everything is fine. Just thought i would let you all know
