    IP35Pro bios14 multiplier problem

Hi to all, looks like a great community.
Problem: Can't change multiplier in bios,,,well, I can change it but,,it doesn't really change. I set it for 8, it shows up as 8 in the bios, but when I boot up and look at cpu-z or 2 or 3 other locations it is really still on 6.
    Was running fine at 8x400 (3.2ghz) with e6750go and 2g ram(ddr2 800).
I installed a HSF , removed the 2g, and installed 4g GSKILL 8500 in hopes of getting to 3.4ghz. Went to 415 FSB, booted and ran. Went to 425 FSB, and it froze. Had to power off. Went back to 415 FSB, rebooted, and looked at
CPU-Z, and it showed 6x415, as did RealTemp, and a couple of other checks.
Went back to BIOS and the mult still shows 8. Cleared CMOS and tried again.
Same results. BIOS = 8 X 415 All other progs = 6 x 415. I'm kinda new at this OC thing, so any level of help would be greatly appreciated. Gary

Sounds like youve got intel speedstep on in your BIOS which lowers the muliplier (and thus speed) to save energy why your not doing anything too intensive.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Terbinator,, Thanks a million. I overlooked that a dozen times. My machine has run so well for so long, I've forgotten all the things that have to checked to get it goin again. Are there any other simular things that I need to check, my old brain doesn't work as well as it once did. Thanks again, Gary

You got it sorted then? The only other thing is to make ure you save your bios settings when youve changed them Also you know Abit arent around anymore so if you can buy a board from a different retailer when you next upgrade!

That was the main problem(EIST), also disabled C1E for the time being, as it was causing a simular problem. Thanks for the reminder to save the bios.
I like the ability to save and load bios profiles with this bios. Do you have an idea which of the newer bios is best for OC'ing the 6750? I have the version 14 now, and I've read 17 is good for one thing, another is good for something else,,etc., etc. Sorry to see Abit go,,I really like the 35pro. I'm running at 3.3ghz now, not quite stable as I would like, but I'll do some more tuning, and maybe get to 3.4. That's as far as I want to go. That should run FSX pretty well, and that's my main thing for now. Thanks again for the info.
