I am having exactly the same problem. I replaced the PSU with a brand new one, and I get the same symptom: 8.3. in the Hex display. Are there other errors that can cause this problem?

confirm 83 or 8.3.?
full system spec is always useful ...

I have a friend with the same issues. In fact it's my old board that I handed down. If the PC is left off for several hours it will sometimes boot.

PSU has been replaced. Got slightly different symptoms.

With original Akasa 460W PSU..
Switch on PSU (on PSU's on switch) sometimes give F. (PC will not even attempt to boot from this state when I hit the power switch). Sometimes it reads 00, if I try to power up the PC it will usually show 8.3. immediately then shutdown completely.

With new PSU (cheap 400w)..
It will powerup for a few (5) seconds but still showing 8.3. then reboot and the process cycles endlessly

Now back with original PSU and it has the original problem, except now it has been hours and still not booting...

I can only summize that the motherboard is dead but I'm hoping somebody out there has found it to be something else.

Any help will be much appreciated (beer tokens available!)
