Abit IN9 32X-MAX multi is locked upwards for extremes

Anyone know if there is a bios out there that will let me increase the multi on my quad core. This is a major issue as quads are not really stable past 300fsb and you really need the multi unlocked.

A request has been sent to HQ Flanno, I'm trying to see what's being done about it.

    Cheers.
Will you post back here when you hear something. Thanks.

I already used Abit black box to post this to them as well. It's pretty astounding they missed something this obvious. Not exactly a stop ship but a major feature none the less.

    Thanks Sean. Much appreciated.

I am also finding the new wifi drivers intermittently cause the wifi card to completely dissapear from devicemanager (usually after being online for 10/11 hours which is not that often for me I guess, but I cannot leave the system downloading torrents) and I still have the issue when I boot up from cold, windows does not pick up the card and I have to reboot to get it detected. Logged a support request through the blackbox along with a request for a fix for the cpu multiplier being locked upwards.

    Thanks

I'd really appreciate an answer on the mulit-lock question. I'm having a hard time picking an 680i board and I'd like to know if there is answer before I take the plunge.

Heres the official answer. It has nothing to do with the bios. The CPU are locked and will not allow you to adjust them.

The information was given to me by abit HQ. They said that the function was locked on the cpu. I don't have a CPU here in the UK office so I can't say for certian that the information is correct. If anyone has any info please let me know.

My understanding of the matter is that 680i reference boards (eVGA for example) allow on the x6800 chip multiplier adjustment up to times 60. On the IN9 it goes as high as 11, the stock multiplier.

Reference from VR-Zone about 1/2 of the way down http://sg.vr-zone.com/?i=4215&s=7

Also my x6800 is unlocked on the AB9 board, but I cannot comment on the Asus Striker

    EDIT

Link for Striker showing unlocked multiplier http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid...e=expert&pid=5

If that is the case then a new bios should fix the issue. Should be receiving beta updates next week. If anyone wants to test them please let me know.

The person in Abit you spoke to are either incompetent or morons. But thanks for trying. Here is the reply I got through black box.

I have an Intel QX6700 extreme and your bios will not let me unlock the
    multiplier upwards.
This is a feature of extreme cpu's that I need.
Can you please tell me when Abit are going to release a bios that fixes this
    issue or possibly
tell me where I can get a beta bios.

    Thanks

Well if they don't know that a QX6700 is an extreme edition then they shouldn't be supporting these boards. I will wait another month to see if they sort it. After that I will dump this pos.
