Ipod Headphone socket

I've just broken part of the headphone socket on my Ipod and its being a bit dodgy about giving me both channels of sound now, how much/is it possible to get a replacement?

not sure about UK prices, but US out-of-warraty repairs are $250 per repair, plus $49 for the phone call outside of the first 90 days

what?! Thats a bit of a rip - off you could nearly buy a new one with that!

it's a blanket charge apple apply. they used to charge per-part for every screw, they found it simpler to charge a flat fee - though there are 2 exceptions. screens (e.g. $999 ibook screens) are $1000+, and ipod battery replacements are about $100 (i forget the actual figure)
