    Ultimate RAR app?

I am having no luck with this so far. I know that on windows, 7zip handles absolutely everything with ease and its tiny and its free. Whats the mac equivalent, cant seem to find an app that'll simply handle it all, including split archives

I use an app called UnrarX and find it pretty good.

    Clicky here.

There's a Mac version of WinRAR but I don't think it has a GUI

    Re: Ultimate RAR app?

No problem at all, glad I could help.

7Z for Mac OS would be good but I don't know if it will ever happen...

    Re: Ultimate RAR app?

There's a 7z util for Mac but it only does 7z archives. The OS handles zip and other stuff, but for RAR you'll need UnrarX as said.

    Re: Ultimate RAR app?

I use a combination of both UnRARX and The Unarchiver (http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html)

Howcome you use 2? I dont yet understand how they differ, can you tell me what features are lacking in both? I assume you use both because neither has the complete set of required features

    Re: Ultimate RAR app?

I couldn't get The Unarchiver to play nice with PAR2 files, and the version I have doesn't cope particularly well with password protected RARs, although that may have improved (I'm pretty slow to update ).

UI-wise, I prefer the minimal user interface of The Unarchiver, it's much more like Finder's file copy.
