    Question Yellow Dog Linux 4.0

    Has anyone ever used this distro?

    I am looking at buying it ($29) for my 1GHz iBook, anyone heard anything good/bad about it?

    Cheers

    Dan.

    Stoo - i´ve had problems with 3.0;
    It didn´t work with my GFX card AND it didn´t like the fact that i had Panther in a dual boot config.... To remedy the dual boot problem, you need to play with the BIOS or something - this wasn´t what i wanted to do!

    aha..

    "the kernel used in 3.01 didnt have very good support for the newer ati cards (none of the 2.4 kernels did) Yellowdog 4.0 has a 2.6.x kernel and the 9200 card is supported just fine"

    the GFX problems should be fixed at least..

    The dual boot issue should be fixable, have a look here, I'm sure they could help with the more technical aspects of mac linux

    the 9200 si the fastest suported card - ati make no ppc linux drivers, so 3d acceleration comes from the dri open-source 3d driver, which gets to the 9200 and no higher
