I suspect they will just be G5 by name, rather than G5 by power.

Unless they actually want to burn people.

Here's a question, does anyone know what the situation is with free upgrades with Apple UK?
Seeing as I've ordered my iBook, but it's not actually getting built and shipped until I send back the paperwork (0% interest free thingy), the US website mentions some sort of free updater package to iLife '05 for a nominal fee for macs ordered on or after Today..

Anyone know if we get the same deal here, and how much it is?

Yeah, the only difference is that the pbks have more cache on the processor, and they get the superdrive iirc..

This is the trouble when you post questions while they're still updating the site..

In theory your iBook hasn't been ordered..... so you should get iLife 05 for free with it.

I know when they shipped Panther, they just slid the CDs into the packaging of those that had been prebuilt with Jaguar etc.

Sweet, just hunting about on the Apple website, it looks like we might get a cheap upgrade to Tiger as well

Its a lot cheaper than it used to be. £40-50

Bearing in mind the cost to apple will be something around 3-4 to make them that was a hefty amount of profit.

Apple have higher profit margins that the whole sector anyway (High 20's compared to 15 ish for the rest) but items like the keyboard take the piss.

well not really, its a nice stylish keyboard, with 2 usb ports on it apparently (dont own one meself) if you where gonna buy a nice wired keyboard and mouse combo youd be wanting to spend about that.... or i would anyway

and the bluetooth wirless ones, think how much a logitec desktop mx costs, the ordinary is £80 and the bluetooth is over £100 - the apple bluetooth are £76 for the pair
