Yup, PZero is fitted to the top end Jags afaik. Jus making the comment that not all Pirellis are bad

Must admit though, not a huge car forum person (infact Hexus is about as far as I go with Automotive, unless you count the Varadero forum I'm a mod on)

Single width road. And it was covered in water the night I hit it. It's right at the start of a hairpin I was going to take so I wasn't going fast either. Just not much room to drive around it anyway.

Dunno what tyres Dad's Boxsters got, have a look when I get home...

Yup, principally relating to the 1000, but has a 125 section too. No more surprising than having an s14 owners club or the like - for some touring is their passion, Varadero offers that

A well used back road. Used enough for them to have resurfaced most of it when I last reported its sorry state. Its a very useful shortcut.

The reason, believe it or not, is that all tyres need a running-in (or scrubbing-in) period. When tyres are made, they're typically injection-moulded in a heat press. In order to get the tyres out of the mould, it is first lined with a non-stick coating. When the tyres pop out, some of that releasing agent sticks to the tyres themselves. What you get is a nice shiny new tyre, with 'shiny' being the operative word. The releasing agent can take as much as 500 miles to scrub off."

Yup, you should always be careful with new rubber, it's lethal. That's one of the familiar stories I read on forums all over the place - "Eagle F1's suck, I just lost it on a bend in the wet"

When you do a bit more digging, you find they've had them for 100 miles...

Carreras come with continental sport contact 2s as standard IIRC, asume the boxster comes with something similar or at least continental.

Dads got p-zero rossos on his, been through a few sets so he must like them. His had continental sport contact 2s out of the factory but had brand new p-zero on the front when he got it.

Well they've patched up the potholes (its not pretty but its safer).

Tyres seem good so far, I think they are quieter than the old ones too, which is nice.

Do you do a lot of motorway miles? or is it mainly around town/twisties?

Jus interested, see how long they last - they seem to be the sportier rubber
