Waste of time looking at them there irrelevant.
You WILL NOT find a 2001 Focus ESP at a dealership for anywhere near £6700 and i bloody guarentee it

FORD FOCUS 2.0 Zetec ESP,

Thats from a dealer. Bit different to that parkers valuation of £6700 from a dealer dont you think?
And how can you prove that the same can't be said about Golfs.
Parkers is there as a reference, not as a rule book.
If I buy a new car and sell it on though, I don't care what the dealer is going to sell it for. I only care what they're going to give me for it.
I found a 2001 ESP Y Reg at HTC on Autotrader for £6,995.
If you modify the Parkers search you get http://www.parkers.co.uk/pricing/use...e=66&pay=false , which suggests that they should be selling it for £7215 or thereabouts. It's got 5,000 miles extra on it, so that may explain the £216 price difference.Features:
25000 miles, Silver, Petrol, Manual, 5dr,ABS. Air-Conditioning. alarm. Alloy Wheels. Central Door Locking.Electric Windows. Front Fog Lights. One Owner. Passenger Air Bag. Power-Assisted Steering. Rear Boot Spoiler.traction control. UK Car.
You're still quoting the parkers quoted price for the 3 door X reg, if you're going to compare prices, you might as well compare the same vehicle. (you've got to take into consideration the focus is a high depreciating car)Originally posted by Oxide

The fact that Ford have a wider dealer network, and that they are more willing to discount their cars help this.Originally posted by schrickvr6
there have always been more fords and vauxhalls on the roads, imo that doesn't mean they are better cars...some people wouldn't know a good car if it hit them in the face
Gordon Bennet! This thread has degenerated totally into a penis size contest.
Some people like golfs, some people like rovers some people like focus's.
I like focus's - thats why i bought a 2.0 ghia. Its a nice car, i just love the handling, it is a super chassis - kudos to ford that no one else has yet bettered it after 5 odd years?
Frankly i dont give 2 hoots what you guys think of my focus, i like it and thats all i care about. Some of you guys need to grow up a bit and stop worrying about what other people think about your cars. (i agree that golf owners on these forums anyway seem to react most agressivley to anyone elses questioning of their cars).
Butuz
Sorry Butuz <hangs head in shame>
Just annoys me when people put up inaccurate posts.
(and I didn't mean to offend your car)
I have a rather large penis.
I drive a standard Cav GSi, its 15 years old, it does 0-60 in 7.9 and tops 135Mph according to the book.
Parkers says on the front GUIDE, I'll let you google that word for yourself Ox, a car is worth only as much as someone will pay for it...
Golf is the best selling car in Europe. Nuff said.which is why its the best selling car in the country.
Oh and on the "depreciation" bit.. about Golf's and Fords...heres one for u
My brother just bought a Ford Mondeo T Reg, 20,000 miles, metallic Blue, 1.8 Zetec with optional front heated windscreen, 16" alloys and a few other bits...
He bought it at trade price for £2900!!!!
My Golf on a '97 P reg is £3500 at trade prices and thats TWO YEARS OLDER with 40,000 MORE miles!!!!
...
Oh and garages use GLASSES not PARKERS.
and corsa was the best selling car in the UK last month, altho, focus has been top for like 20 months runnign or sumthin stupidly long.
The focus is a nice car, my sisters st170 is lurvly!
Shame the ST170 isnt exactly "sporty" ... i think its quoted at 8.5secs... bit slow for a 170bhp car
8.2 Seconds, but again its just a quoted figure, it will do 0-60 quicker than that, and no 0-60mph in 8 seconds is NOT slow.
Its just like my Octavia quoted figure of 0-60 in 7.9, same 1.8L 180BHP as the audi, vw range, but with a GPS unit fitted and calculations done it has managed 0-60 in 6.6seconds.
I wouldn't say the Octavia is a sporty car, but it suits me, and it certainly isn't slow.
And as for the most popular car being good, it doesn't necessarily follow. The cars that are purchased most often doesn't mean they are the best. Otherwise we'd all have focus, fiesta etc...
Its been an interesting debate going on, I just wish there was less testosterone going on in here.

Had a few races in the st170, beat a few golfs and some novas (that was hard... honest). Its a fun car!

Horses for courses.
what annoys me is someone saying that by owning a Golf I have more money than sense.
And I often find the tone of your posts blunt and to some extent aggressive FYI.
more money than sense??, VW's ae fantastic, worth every penny spent.
