    Talking GTI ----> R ... Evolution

Ok, as some people are saying GTI is for old people etc etc

VW has lost the plot on GTI's blah blah...

Heres a lil info for you.

I have contacts within VW (YES I DO.. I AINT BULLS*ITTING), and as you know there is an R32 Golf mk4 and also a R32 DSG mk4 Golf... yes?

    Well read the following

    Lupo mk2 = R series - 150Bhp
    Polo Current mk = R series - 180Bhp
    Golf R36 mk5 = R series - 270Bhp

Seems the GTI badge is being taken over on the "HIGH" performance side by the "R series" badge. Just like BMW have an "M Series" dept.

So, wanna challenge a turbo charged 150Bhp Lupo? or maybe a 180Bhp Turbo charge Polo?

.. these are rumours yes, but the R Series SHOULD happen to the Lupo and Polo... but the Bhp figures are NOT final... but they might well be next year, as the Polo needs a "performance" model to be released next year, will it be a GTI? or an R series... if it IS gonna be the 180Bhp R series... it'll most likely use the 180Bhp 1.8t Golf mk4 engine.

    Now please dont diss VW.

I think its just following suit with the likes of BMW etc. Everyone uses GTI these days

    Peugeot
    Proton
    Nissan
    Ford

etc, so by using "R" people shouldn't copy.

A 150Bhp Lupo will be unreal. The current GTI has 120Bhp and hits 60 in about 7.8secs....

150Bhp will probably see the 6.5secs barrier broken.

i'd say around 300bhp is the limit for a well sorted front wheel drive car.

the guy who built my engine has a 220bhp 1.6l lupo cup-racer...its a wild little thing

Yeah because this 'R series' is totally different to Honda's Type R range isn't it...

    Same with the Skyline GT-R
    and the Micra R

Plus Nissan ain't used GTi since the Almera GTi which was about 1999. Since then they've used Sport+ and T-Sport and R.

Sorry but i just find VW's over priced, especailyl whne you can buy an equivilent specced Skoda Fabia/Octavia for about £4k less!

Gotta agree with them loosing the plot a little on that, they've got bently'itis the Marques prob made them think their special

Hopefully if they do release those new models they'll be nice and nippy, bout time they reduced the cost of a few of these cars and dropped a few lower end models, Cars are just soooo overpriced imo

What about the mighty renault 5 gt turbo
It didnt have 150Bhp... god sake, it was a 1.4 and could be CHIPPED to about 200Bhp.. BUT IT WASNT STANDARD... I think its standard Bhp was 105Bhp!

Sorry but i just find VW's over priced, especailyl whne you can buy an equivilent specced Skoda Fabia/Octavia for about £4k less!
    1: VW's are built better
    2: They have better image
3: Skoda's and Octavia's use poorer quality VW parts.

Everyone wants a VW... especially the 150Bhp TDI PD Golf with 240lb/ft torque!! ... ya cant say thats slow

i think volvo actually started the 'r' badging but i might be wrong - the t5R was a racish version of the t5, had similar bits n bobs to the touring car version, was hellishly quick - 240bhp at stock. ooooch. 1996 i think

1: i'd say the build quality of the octavia's and fabias are better than that to some VW's.
2: image.. yes the golfs are nice, but its a matter of choice, octavia is a beautiful car.
3: LOL! < ur full of it
