weird, i always though it was a 1.8 20v turbo..
it is a 1.8 20v turbo...same as the Golf Engine
Sorry to disagree here....Originally posted by 3Dfx
1: VW's are built better
2: They have better image
3: Skoda's and Octavia's use poorer quality VW parts.
1) they'll all built by the same robots in the same factorys
2) only just.... Skoda have come on in leaps and bounds
3) see point 1.
Skoda and VW use different vents panels etc... just cos they mite be built in the same factory doesnt mean they use the same bits... cos the they'd be the same car.
... Its still a SKODA tho
Is this really helping the discussion? I saw the title of this thread, and the first posts were interesting, and now ive had to wade through people arguing over skodas and vws.
anyway, ar they gonna be called the Lupo R and Polo R?
The Caped Crusader :-)
I assume it'll be branded the same as the Golf is currently..
eg. R32 for mk4 and R36 for mk5
... Maybe the Lupo will be R18 (for 1.8) and the Polo R20 (for 2.0 FSI Turbo... down tuned from 200Bhp in the Golf mk5 to 180 in the Polo).... imagine if they didnt down tune it... LOL 200Bhp in a Polo!
heh heh
but yeah
R18
R20
R36
...guess work, but sounds about right
I think its standard Bhp was 105Bhp
I think youll find thats its 120bhp standard
also lets face it - the seat arosa IS The vw lupo
cant claim those 2 are made from different parts
hughlunnon@yahoo.com | I have sigs turned off..
Basically, people buy VW's for the little badge on it with a letter V and a letter W.
People Skodas because they put value, effeciancy and build quality before a badge.
Latest Surveys show Skoda to be the top 5 manufacturers, with VW being in the bottom 5, in terms of customer satisfaction, value for money and performance.
Very stange, to say they are more reliable, if they use "porer quality components".

So, wanna challenge a turbo charged 150Bhp Lupo? or maybe a 180Bhp Turbo charge Polo?
Mine is only normally aspirated mind you but I'll still give them a head start
is it just me who thinks the Octavia is looking more and more like a Volvo S40?
I like VW's but i have to agree they are overpriced.
and in my oppinion: Type-R sounds better than GTi

Theres an R32 Golf in town by me...is the most gorgeous blue i have ever seen...lovely car...
different bumpers (front & back)the seat arosa IS The vw lupo
different exhaust system
different seats
etc etc... oh and the fact that the Seat doesnt have a GTI Arosa.
Both the Polo and Lupo are FWD cars? They'll probably be alot of fun but prob run into the same problem Alfa had ... traction, lol. You switch TC off and all hell breaks lose, switch it on and the car is twitching everywhere (if it has it).
"especially the 150Bhp TDI PD Golf with 240lb/ft torque!!"
Yeah, good specs but ... its a Dielsel, unless your a buisness man or a caravan owner, you just don't
Both the new Scodas and the VWs are good cars in there own, but I'd still never buy a Scoda ... its just the name

ok, but u get a 180bhp 1.8t GTI Golf and a 150bhp TDI Golf and put them at 35mph in 3rd gear and floor both of them...NO changing gear...its a Dielsel, unless your a buisness man or a caravan owner, you just don't
U watch the 150Bhp TDI destroy the Petrol 180Bhp!
