OGRI is still going in the back of Bike, very very funny....
Kaillum - Would you still buy the new FZ6 (given the difference in price if I was to buy now)? i.e. is the new bike worth the price premium over the old carb'd fazer? Its on the shortlist for my next bike...

Kaillum, ah but theres more depth, which I should have mentioned. Mine was the original shape, with the engine from the Thundercat. And, after riding a friends 'Cat recently theres not a lot of power difference between the Fazer and the 'Cat, the 'Cat has probably just got a bit more top end. Unusable under road conditions though...
Kickstart, aha. Makes sense now. I humbly apologise for inferring that you were old...
Took you long enough to pop up mate.
Not a bad idea that, who's up for it?
Current ride is 125cc X9 Maxi Scoot
Had Zip 50 before that, fully tricked out was fun out pulling most things on the road
Looking at doing the auto test and either get a 250 or splash out and get the newer X8 400 or nexus 250, just depends whats around at the time.
Current lid is AGV and at 300 quid not a cheap thing either but then it's my life
Next on the list even though the weather is getting nice is a decent pair of winter gloves prolly ones that are warmed up, the cold snap we had left me allmost with frost bite.
Rode in all weather conditions, infact i did my cbt in pissing rain, the only time i refused to go on the scoot is when it snowed as the x9 likes to flip the back end out when it gets slippy it gets twitchy in the cold....

For those of you in the Midlands, im off to Bassets Pole in a mo. Look out for a blue unfaired Bandit 6, and my mate on a white and black custom-paint-job Thundercat. Im in black with a cream and black tuareg HG jacket.
Say hello if you see me.
I'm from the Southeast (Essex) I'm up for a ride out, but not if its many miles away
Northwest ..anyone got a pillion seat going spare ?
without a doubt... If I was still doing the mileage that I was doing 12 months ago, or if I was limited on insurance i'd still deffo go for the FZ6 out of all the others..
In my opinion its the best looking and best handling out of the 600 semi-fared bikes.. I tried all the big named 600's. Bandit 650, CBF600, ER6 and even the Duc Monster.. and the FZ6 won hands down for me..
but its a personal choice.. and considering you can pick up a late '05 / early '06 FZ6 for £3500 still with manu warranty, whereas a decent last of the carb'd '03's are still commanding £3000! And with a set of cans and a PC it'll sort the mid range out!
but.. and its a really big BUT i'm no longer doing the mileage i was doing, and i'm the wrong side of 30 so not limited on insurance.. and i've seen an '04 RSV Factory with my name on it.. so the FZ6's days might be numbered!
i've never ridden one of the mk1's with the 'cat engine.. but a friend with a mk1 took mine out for a spin around Hartside and was amazed at the way it handled and the top end pull.. but I dont know if thats down to the sloppyness of his older Fazer or the tightness of mine.. so i'll reserve judgement until I get my leg over one
And sorry Kickstart.. I'm in the Northwest, but my bike aint a Taxi

Fair enough, kaillum
Kickstart, get yourself down to the midlands and Ill give you a run around.
I'm the wrong side of 20 atm (19), so insurance is a killer. Looking at £1300/year fully comp for a 600f, more like 1600 for an RR. That was what made me think about getting a fazer, or bandit. Both are going to be a massive improvement over my current bike (Honda Varadero) in terms of performance. Argh, so many choices, so many bikes I like, so many I get raped on the insurance for.
I really like the R1100 Boxer Cup Replica, but they're hanging about the 4.5k mark, and I haven't got that sorta cash to spend, yet.....
Since you'll get raped for insurance, dave, try eBike, and thier PayGo package. They arnt the cheapest, but allow you to wrack up a years no claims in 8 months.
What I plan to do is use thier PayGo to wrack up 5 years worth of ncd then move to a cheaper insurer, or thier own 'normal' style insurance. Will save me a packet in the long run.
Thing is with the bandit's is that theyre old hat, technology wise. The suspension needs work, at least. The engine isnt near as good as the fazers, and isnt in the same league as those of the sports bikes. I was bored of mine after 3 months.
THCi , thanks for the offer but i think your just a little to far away for me !
Agent , why buy a book , when i can go to the library !
So many men in leather , so little time
