Peugeot wont start after being towed away.

Hi I have an N reg Peugeot 306. This car was towed away and when it was returned to me the car wont let me type in the immobiliser code, i can turn the key on so the electrics work but it wont go any futher. The lovley(?) tow man said it had nothing to do with him and left. It was working before they took it so I was wondering if by moving the car it could set of the internal immobiliser and drain the battery? I dont know much about cars so would love to here from anyone who could shed some light on my problem.
    Thanks Koko
