Yup, and even people who've had them for ages still bitterly complain about it. Doesn't help you out much either if you've just picked up one as a rental at an airport, your knackered from a flight and just want to.. get home without any hassle.

Are the indicators the ones that you touch to do three flashes, then push a bit more to do a full indicate? If they are I find the system to be excellent once you get used to them, wifes company car is an astra. I think the new Octavia I test drove the other month had them as well. Once you get used to them the system is fine. After having the car 3 years the only long term niggle is the gearbox, its not as precise as some others. Its done 37,00 and the only problem was a wiper motor that had an intermitant problem, took it in and was replaced the same day. We fancied a slightly bigger car this time and have an octavia on order, should get it this month.

On the indicator front think you just push in the same direction again to cancel. Or at leats I think thats what happens

Best indicators are on my old land rover, the entire unit came off in my hand while going around a roundabout I laughed my arse off, just after I regained control and avoided the telephone pole. Actually they are a really good vehicle for confusing people, dip / main beam is on the floor (foot switch) and I think the big button starter is a chuckle as well.

TiG...... you've spotted the fundemental flaw to Vauxhall's recent cars.

Sh1t fuel consumption, with no real motorway gears. It'shorrible. I love tall 5th gears, but they dont have them anymore.

Dash's are good on Astra, and I promise, that with time youget good with those indicators...

BUT.....why change the syste that everyone else uses? Cos Opel were being smarty pants, and it backfired and they're stuck with that development cost now.

And to the boot. Well, it IS a lot smaller, BUT the Focus was too...alwaya was, Taller yes..but shorter floor and narrower access.

Great shame it wasn't a 1.9 TiD 150. Then we'd have heard something very different.

As tosteering...if you want your Octavia close to that youneed some very serious tyres and some extra tracking adjustments.

    Astra steering is amazing.
