Chap owns a car. It's 3 years old, Full Main Dealer History, and he decides to get it's 30,000 (roughly) done somewhere else. He saves some dough, and off he trots. It starts fine and goes home.
About 3 weeks later, he notices it's down on power. It's got plenty of mid range torque, but it won't rev as nicely. It does get there, but it's taking a while. His mates identical car feels as fast as it used too, but not this one. It's slowing.

Good thought: On your advice, the chap takes ther airfilter box off, and sees that it's not been changed at all (quite common for a lower prices service). He vacuums the leaves out and the dust off the filter, puts it back together and drives it.
This doesn't change anything. It's the same.

Another great thought. The chap dips it, and the oil level is between the top and bottom, and is therefore OK.
The oil is still a nice clear colour too.
It's a thought, though not as good as the others.
He pulls the plugs out, and each seems the right colour and the gaps are OK. It does start OK, he reasons, and it's fine to drive at reasonable speeds, but it won't rev. Plugs seem ok.

It was fine when it went in, and the Lambda sensor is untouched.

Fuel consumption the same as normal?

Hmm....fuel consumption a tad worse, but thats hard to say as it's only been a few weeks.
Has the ECU been touched?
