LOL Josh that's a very good point, something might be stuck under the pedal or in the throttle body itself

It shoots up to about 5k but then slows where it used to get faster to the redline.
When yuo drive it, it just wont rev under load at all. The old red line was high, way over 7k but now it wont get there. It has been like it since its service and got worse & worse within days of the service.

theres no easy way of telling but it might be a bent conrod due to water compression? is there any tapping?
Perhaps the fuel is not being put in at proper pressure, try the fuel pressure regulator?
Have they put the wrong viscosity oil in? 10/40 when it should be 0/30 or 5/30 etc?

no fault codes would suggest that the sensors are all working correctly so were looking at something mechanical.
Before we go there though check the crank sensor, oh and just check for me that it is well earthed (all of them) and the battery is in good condition?
On those avensis's is it fly by wire or an actual throttle cable? perhaps the throttle sensor is dodgy if its fly by wire. Are there any leaks at all? (be it coolant petrol or oil)
Has the fuel pump been checked? Perhaps its faultly and not pumping petrol to the engine fast enough?
Have the "cheaper" (dodgy?) garage that serviced it de-tuned it so that he has to go back numerous times to get it fixed?
