my comment was on the people glamourising speeding i think it was a valid point, especially since speeding is responsible for many road deaths.

I have no problem with people and their cars but the fact he was posting about racing with some person semed to me irresponsible and immature.

and i wasn't being a troll, and 75mph is over the speed limit in the UK and since u were in no emergency i think it is reckless to be doin such speeds.

I have neither been personally insulting and whilst i may have made jokes about the sexual undercurrents of boys and their cars i did not engage in any personal insults.

If the moderators feel that we should not talk of warez because of legal problems (fair enough in my opinion) i feel it is hypocritical that speeding should be boasted of speeding and thru silence condoning it.

my posting was not meant to offend anyone merely to point out that roads are not play grounds for peoples personal hobbies.

an indicated 75mph is probably 70 or less due to spedo error , so I doubt he was breaking the law.

speeding in the right place ( ie on a drag strip , private runway or track ) is great fun and an exhilerating , if expensive hobby.

with the current government crackdown on speeding - you are unlikely to get away with braking the limit for long without a fine , so its at your own risk.

Discussion of where to obtain warez is taboo, but discussions about the legality of it are fine as long as there are no direct links on where to obtain illegal software or patches.

Beat me to it Moby, 75mph indicated is probably about smack on 70mph in the Clio. I did NOT race the Corsa, he pulled out and followed me as I overtook a line of traffic on a NSL dual carridgeway. For your reference, the speed limit on such a road when there's a seperating barrier between each side is 70mph. Even if the speedo is 100% accurate we're talking about ~7% over the limit for 600 yards on a high speed road. Oh sacrifice a virgin, I'm a bad boy!

I say again, apart from you NO-ONE has mentioned street racing of any kind. Since you seem to have a problem reading what I've written I'll say again in bold text:

I was not racing the Corsa, I was overtaking a line of traffic and he followed me.

    Thanks for reading.

whether or not he was breaking the law is besides the point, the fact is that driving a ton of metal at 75mph is wreckless since he was in no emergnecy and as exhilirating as driving fast is doin it on public roads is immature and completely selfish.

U disagree with me and that is fair enough but please don't label my posts as useless as im sure plenty of people agree with me on this subject.

I agree with the speeding point you're making in principal, but I think going 75mph on a 70mph limit road is not that bad depending on the cirsumstances. If it had been a 50mph or 60mph limit road then I would agree, even if he was overtaking. Real racing at speeds of over 100mph is reckless and irresponsible though and we hear plenty about that!

Lowe, anything over 80mph and I'll have to remove your thumbs dude!

its not that we disagree with you mate, its the way you decide to make your posts. that gets on peoples nerves. Speeding is not something you can regulate on boards as its not an electronic crime, Warez is therefore the banning of speaking about it is different concept in my opinion.

I openly admit that I speed, I'll do up to 90mph on a motorway, everyone breaks laws some people can accept the risk of this some people can't. I would say however that I don't speed in urban areas, 30/40 and 50 zones are stuck to, but i'll always tend to overspeed by 10% in 60's, 80 in 70's etc.

The thing is revol86, is that I don't need to justify it to you, its my risk that I will get caught speeding or crash and kill myself and others. Call it wreckless or whatever you like. The fact is your first post on cruising was totally off subject and not intended to help the conversation, thats why it was a useless post.

I hope you can understand that

Hang on a minute, a ton of metal 70mph is perfectly safe, yet 75 instantly becomes dangerous and I should be burned at the stake?

We already mentioned speedos overread, so my 75mph is probably more like 69-70mph. Am I still a devil worshipping speeder who should be shot on sight for dangerous driving?

look my point remains that the glamorisation of speed is immature and irresponsible. If u knew u were doin 70 mph then y u say 75 ??? The point is there is no reason to be doin such speeds unless in an emergency.

And whether or not u were racing the Corsa u implied that u were testing ur car against it.

he's got a point, but never mind. i bet EVERYONE has gone over the speed limit at some point in their life - especially by mistake in a 30 zone for instance..

i was pelting down the welsh side of the m4 the other day and some guy in a saxo (*think* it was a 1.4, judging by his top speed) overtook me. i was bored and the road was empty so thought i'd try catching him up - we were both trundelling along at about 95 for quite a while till we came to the bit thats just past newport where its windy and downhill - think the weight factor of my car won and i got away from him, at about 110 (its a big long downhill - about 100 is the limit of my car on the flat)

incidentally, i think my speedo is about right cos i entered a 50 zone a bit quick the other week, and it had one of those leccy signs that tells you your speed when your speeding - well i was doing 65 according to my speedo and 64 according to that..

How on earth have I implied that I was "testing" my car against it? I had no idea he was even going to follow me and overtake the line of traffic as well. Fact is he did, he kept up bar a few car lengths and it suprised me. Whoopy do!

As for my stated speed, the speed I stated was the indicated speed. It's the speed most people actually go by since it's the easiest to measure - you just look down. Coppers measure real speed - in practice we don't have the fancy speed measuring equpiment they do, we just have a counter and a bit of wire...

Why not go more than 60? Fearful that your body might implode due to the huge physical strain it puts upon your body? C'mon bud, get out of the Victorian age here... Cars can safely travel at speeds far in excess of 60mph under the right conditions, so why stick to 60 when 70 is perfectly fine?

    I stand by my label - you're a troll...

I hope noone asks me to justify killing those homeless cos obviously they have no right to!!!

This is my point exactly, u think u don't have to justify potentially putting peoples lives in danger, that is unbelievably immature and selfish, yet u get upset at my post making a light hearted joke about the unfortunate name Cruise's.

TiG please read over what just said and what implications it would have if it was widely implemented. Drivers have a responsibility to other people on the roads whether pedestrians or fellow motorists.

And also knowing a person very seriously injured in a car crash (in a wheel chair for the rest of his life) your comments are deeply insensitive as im sure anyone else who has lost loved ones thru speeding would agree.

please grow up and think of others.

Not wanting to cause an arguement on top of another arguement, but how can driving slowly cause accidents? I agree with some people not being able to drive properly though, it shocks me sometimes!

Driving tests should be made much harder, and we should have much much less drivers on the roads. Also, we should have to resit a little test every 2-3 years to continue driving or something like that. It's getting too dangerous and expensive now, hence why I no longer drive!

revol68 please start showing some level of consideration when posting. To date every single comment on this board (and by that I mean the whole of forums.hexus.net) has been phrased in such a way that it aggravates the forum users. This results in the general impression that you are trolling the forum in an attempt to get a reaction. Your opinions are valued, they're just not always required. This was a perfectly civilised thread until you posted and we've now spent almost an entire page going off topic.

In this instance I agree with your fundamental argument but maybe consider that a better approach would have been to start a new thread concerning speeding rather than hijacking this one. That way this thread stays on track and the discussion concerning speeding gets the full attention it deserves.

I look forward to your continued appropriate contributions on this forum
