    Re: New car

This forum is full of self righteous types isnt it..

I garantee that someone who posts on here has a car without ALL their mods declared.

I am just being real, most people dont bother.. if you want to declare the exahust tip from ripspeed and add 200 to your policy then go for it.. I will be the one that saves the cash and removes it before inspection.

    Re: New car

Self righteous?! No, you're completely missing the point there.

When you pay out for something and other people openly admit they don't even bother, you get slightly narked.

You no doubt have your road fund licence and an MoT? Why not have a fully insured car too?

Wait 'til, God forbid, you're hit by an uninsured driver.

    EDIT:

Back to the initial thread I think.

    Nice car, enjoy it.

self righteous? why? because I'm saying what you're supposed to do, well sorry

my golf's declared fully to the insurance, all mods included, i'd have it no otherway.

most insurance firms won't even apply a premium for small mods, but if you don't declare them, you're in trouble...

good idea about removing before the inspection though, assuming it's not on the motorway or where the car is recovered and examined before you have chance to remove those mods

    Re: New car

If it has a sensilbe exhaust on it, they wont know much difference.

And your golf is probably worth 10 times the amount of this car.. its somewhat different to jeapordise yout full comp policy. Rather than the tpft on this sub 1000 pound car.

Yup I cant wait to be hit be an uninsured driver.. Not going to be nice for the company to have to pay out but Il take the £100 excess on the chin.

People admit they dont bother? Get used to it, thousands of people dont bother.

On topic. Nice car big improvement over the fiat.

Now all you need to do is drop the v6 in there and have it registered as the 1.8 still

Nonsense. It's a diesel Golf with nice wheels, nice seats, maybe some less-wallowy suspension and creature comforts. There's nothing sporty about a 115bhp diesel I'm afraid.

    ^^ QFT

Even my Mondeo was kicking out 130bhp!

Im not saying the Golf is a bad car, just not exactly got the most sporting credentials, even the Mk 4 GTI's were laughable.

nope, you're right, he's referring to the Mk5's new 2.0 tdi lump, which pushes 140bhp as standard.

and trust me, there's more on the Gt than some 'pretty' wheels

not all '115's are 115s any more either the torque these engines have makes for some considerable fun at times

yebut it was a mondeo LOL /dons flame suit

we're forgetting here, that the golf and Leon Cupra shared the same Tdi lumps and still do, come to think of it....

but anyway, this is nothing to do with the OP's post...

Vectras aren't my cup of tea, but after sitting in my mate's 02 plate 1.8 the other day, they seem to have improved, not a bad buy

    Re: New car

Beg yourpardon Howard. I didnt realise he had the Jerusalem spec . I indeed was referring to the new model

"The powerplant is fitted to the oil-burning answer to the Golf GTI, badged the GT TDI. This car's 2.0-litre four-cylinder delivers 167bhp, and also offers 350Nm of torque. "

Yeah it was a Mk 3 Mondeo, which is a very highly rated car, with a very good chassis.

Yes the Leon may share the same powerplant as the Golf, but Seat actually made there cars ride and handle properly.

    haha Cheap shot.

Golfs are meant to be wallowy and crap though thats why they appeal to everyone.

I will say the new GTi bunch are a good car. However what you say is applicable to pretty much all previous

Well dont you mean ridiculously overpriced shot . . .

The new GTI is a vast improvement, and I really wouldnt mind one if they actually came down to sensible money.

They're not "crap" , they're just overrated and thus, overpriced. People put them up on some sort of pedestal of utter prestige and quality, when in fact they're no different to brands such as Ford, Vauxhall etc in terms of prestige. They are built well, but they're not exactly BMWs or Mercedes' in terms of desirability.

    Re: New car

I drove a mark 4 gti and had to get out of the car as I was laughing to much at how long it took to breach 60.

Do you remember seeing the drag they did where it got done by all three cars inc a skoda something.. they are horrendous.
