He definitely made a choice...
"oh crap, too late to stop now. Hmmm, ram the Ferrari, or ram the BMW..."
No-brainer!
There was always the third option...
"Handbrake it sideways and wipe them both out, drive around the track backwards taking out all your competitors till you win by default of being the only car still running."
I did find the whole incident funny, reminds me of when Schumacher ran over Damn Hill's front left suspension. "If I can't win, no-one will!"
Hamilton's dad didn't look too best pleased with what his son had done.
Well, he's still on his dad's insurance, isn't he? His premiums are going to go through the roof...

His dad did say Lewis gets it all from him..
I suspect his Dad's insurance premiums have already gone through the roof. Didn't he (Dad) wrap £300,000 worth of someone else's 911 Carrera GT round some roadside trees and bushes a week or so ago?
Seems his Dad can't say too much right now. Stones and glass houses, etc.
Apt, indeed, in the circumstances.
just tried searching for a vid of this and found..
This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Formula One Management
this was on pretty much every site i looked at...
only reason looking for a vid was because i missed what happened due to eating some very nice chocolate+mint+choc chip ice-cream....
anybody done an etch-a-sketch that i can look at?
Highlights ITV4 tonight?
Not much to see, and I'm sure you've seen the text explainations, but just incase:
First half of the field all pit at once when the pit lane opened following safety car. Lewis in lead, Kubica and Raikkonnen behind. Lewis stops longer than the other two. Kubica & Raik both have good stops, as BMW are 2nd in the pit areas Kubica exits to the outer pitlane (proper one). As Ferrari are in the end pit Raik exits to the inner pitlane rather than outer. Kubica is fractionally ahead as they accelerate towards the end of the pit lane side by side, then they both see the red light at the end of the pits (safety car train is still passing pits) and slow down to stop at the line (Raik braking slightly later so arriving at the lane first).
Behind them steams up Lewis who seems to see either them or the red light too late, he is sort of between both the inner and outer pitlane and as he slows down (without locking) he steers the car to his left (towards inner pit lane) to try and avoid an accident but he ends up nerfing Raikkonnen quite heavily (front of Lewis' car rides over Rakkonnens rear wing breifly). Almost immediately Lewis is himself nerfed by Rosberg.

I suspect Raikonnen is finding out how the poor chap in the Force India car felt at Monaco 2 weeks ago...

You forgot "in the wet"...
And for my point of view hamilton deserves the penalty too. I thought his arrogance in the interview after the incident was disgusting.

It was, and far from an isolated incident. He's unbelievably arrogant rather frequently, it's just rare that it's on TV! I've read quite a few interviews where he says quite cringe-worthy stuff. Not confidence, more naiivety.
Yes, he's a talented guy, but a little humility goes a long way. His attitude reminds me of Phil (FIGJAM) Mickelson, the notoriously "confident" golfer.

I think arrogance is probably a good thing in a racing driver.
