    Car repair upgrade/repair + a couple of q's

Well I have got a bit of cash together for my car and there are a few niggles I would like to sort

    1. Fix bonnet (not a main issue but would be nice to do soon
    2. Refurb the alloys (some are pretty scratched and a new lick of paint and clean up would be nice.....this will be a summer job due to time and I want to get all of them done together inc spare)
    3. Sort out the stereo, either to add in a iPod control (unlikely as from what I see I would lose my multi changer) or a new head unit + adapters for the stalk etc

Is fitting a new head unit difficult? I know I would have to get a fascia adpater for my '01 megane but aside from that is there much to it? I think I have to get a stalk adapter too.....could I use my existing multichanger (depending on the head unit) and iPod support?

Do head units normally have connections on the back for RCA/3.5mm or similar? I have a harmon kardon iPod connection kit waiting to go in but haven't had a chance to install it and it can use 3.5mm, phono or the built in transmitter (would rather avoid the latter)

Autoleads is what you want for the stalk adapters, easy to find on the net or in halfords / cheaper store. As for fitting a new one its pretty foolproof. Remove the old one, you may / may not have got with the car the tools you need to remove your current head unit. If thats the case just use coat hangers/ small thin screwdriver to poke in the holes. You fit into the 'gap' a metal retention bracket which the new stereo just slides into.

If I had a bit of cash to spend on my car I'd be sorting the mechanical issues out (if there are any) first, especially considering how much I rely on it.

If it's mechanically sound then digit is right, Autoleads from Halfords (something they are good at is car audio).

Well there is an issue from the ABS/service light on currently, but that is a no brainer (which is why I didn't include it)

The bonnet is mostly cosmetic tbh, had to disconnect the alarm from it as the bend allowed it to go off in warm weather

    Re: Car repair upgrade/repair + a couple of q's

Right well after I posted that the ABS warning light came on it was intermittent for a little while but is on fully now, had it to a basic tyre place for a free check to see if the pads needed changing and they were fine, brake fluid seems a bit low so plan to get some tomorrow before work

Braking seems fine, not felt any wheels locking up, fuses changed and only thing I can think of is a faulty sensor or reluctor ring or similar, either way is a £40-80 diagnostic check, seems a rip to think all they do is plug it in when for £120 I could get the same machine myself then sell it afterwards but waiting till next week for that as I need the car every day currently and it's not IMO a hazard currently
