Good luck. Before you pay you could try to take your permit there and try to convince them that you are a broke student.

So your saying the permit was on display, and they've hidden it with the parking ticket?
If that's true I'd go kill someone(not literally).
like sim says, where was the permit at the time ?
can you say it was stuck to the visor and had fallen off onto the seat ?
if you have a camera phone park up again and take a picture of it on the seat to prove it was in view ?
you dont have to pay the £40 within the time period so long as you contest this. and they cant put it up while the matter is "in dispute"
i have not lost yet against the privateers.
the uni doesnt get a cut, they pay bugger all to them and they make there money out of those they fine.
if it says it has to be on display in the front windscreen you may have a fight, if it says it has to be on display in the windscreen its front or rear
think it through b4 you contest it.

I'd love to contest it, and as I have said elsewhere, if I was in my 1st or 2nd year I would, but I'm on my final year, the uni has my danglies in a vice as they have the right to withold my degree if I have any outstanding debt and I didn't take photos of it in view when I got back (I was really peed off tbh and just wanted to get home after that and other news at uni)
The permit should have been on the dash where the ticket is covering, unfortunately I didnt take a photo to prove this from inside the vehicle.
I've just paid it to be done with it, I can't have the hassle of contesting it and it's not like a year long permit has cost me a huge amount given the time and effort needed and I have much better things to put my time towards.
I have bigger issues with my university than just the parking. I plan to take all of them up with my SU president as there are some serious issues that need fixing, and I can reclaim the penalty in a small claims court after if needed
It's in the lines, had to park over one on side as when I got there was a 4x4 parked over the line on the passenger side and my gf had to get out.... otherwise I'd be damn close to their side
