Ferrari recalls Italia cars after reports of fires

Ferrari has decided to recall all of the 458 Italia cars it made this year, following reports of a number of the luxury cars catching fire.

This is the bit I love though:
In extreme cases, the melting of the adhesive can lead the heat shield - the liner which protects the engine - to deform and move closer to the exhaust, causing the lining to catch fire.
So the heat shields are catching fire? wouldn't you normally make heat shields out of a non-flamable material?

It is a very pretty car, shame about the flamible adhesive. Nice to see they're giving new ones to everyone that had one catch fire.

    Re: Ferrari fires

It's a pretty major design flaw....it my opinion worse than the Toyota recalls and definitely something that you wouldn't expect from Ferrari. Would like to know how something like this could happen and make it into production....
You've got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?
