Hows about this for Customer Service

Driving back to work at 1pm today, car is sounding AWFUL, no turbo kicking in, sounds like only running on 3 banks. Phone up local Skoda dealer explain, dealer goes, that the core pak.

Takes car in at 4:15pm, takes me 15mins to get there with it being nice and slow, i don't want to make things any worse, drive into garage, head engineer goes thats the 3rd core pak, without opening the bonnet, cars moved into garage, bonnet opened before i know it, engine cover is off, core pak 3 is out, been replaced by brand new one.

Car has been tested with electronics, and then a turn of the key in the ignition. Purrs into life perfectly, fills in my warranty form, i book my car in for service with them next wednesday when its likely i've done my 300 miles. which my car has told me i've got left before service interval.

I got back to work at 4:45pm, car working perfectly with no cost to myself apart from 45mins to make up from work which i'd already made up this morning by coming in for 8am.

No quibbles, qualms and perfect service.

    HOW CHUFFED am I?

Always good to hear about companies that realise the value of word of mouth and repeat business. I seem to recall that Skoda have the highest rate of repeat custom in the car industry, which isn't surprising if that's how they treat their customers.

Thats bloody good mate, genuine Skoda garage?
If I had the money I would be tempted by one, BUT, they closed the Luton Skoda branch down, so I think my nearest one is now MK

You gotta say the customer service thing can't get much better than that! Thing is, it should be like that for every manufacturer. But, then again, how would we seperate the market if they were all good?!

Are you gonna drop Skoda HQ and email TiG expressing your delight??

Im pretty certain my next car will be a Skoda, probably one of the diesels.

I've heard many good stories of their customer service, but strange thing is it's often better than Seat, Audi and VW, even though all four are part of the same company.

A friend of mine bought a Skoda recently, great car and he keeps saying how good the customer service is from the garage.

Heh, thats what i thought when i heard the guy say core pak, its basically the thing that does all the ignition in one of the banks of the engine, its a 20v engine, so 5v per bank for the 1.8 turbo that i've got.

IF i was comparing it to cars i can understand it would be a spark plug, but you know what modern cars are like....

Either way my car is fine now and it has been the most pleasent of experiences

It was probably a COIL pack that failed.
On an old car you have a single coil that produces the energy to create the spark for all 4 plugs.
Modern cars have an individual coil pack per cylinder - and you still have spark plugs!

Same problem with my Golf a month or two back - its a widespread problem with Skodas and VWs.

I have to say VW UK were very helpful, the stealership did its usual level best to extort money out of me but the overall experience was relatively painless and I got my coil pack replaced relatively quickly.
