    And?

AFAIK, as a private citizen, it's not illegal to sell something to someone in exchange for a carrier bag full of cash. Whether or not it's wise to do so is another matter.

    Re: Gypsies & their vehicles...

Not sure how it works for private citizens, but in the banks you can (or could be, it might've changed) be jailed for not being suitably suspicious, I would imagine a whacking great loophole in the law such immunity would create would be closed too.

    Yes and No.

I think you can sell it, but you can't enter it into a bank, and there are even certain goods that can not be bought.

This is all part of the anti money laundering thing. You have to have a paper trail and be able to demonstrate where it all came from.

Perfectly legal, but that wasn't my angle.

The above two posts have reinforced the point I was trying to make

I'm very sorry sir, you don't look nearly shifty enough to be allowed to deposit any more than £5

    Re: Gypsies & their vehicles...

I wouldn't be surprised if they were stolen, I know someone who used to recover stolen cars from gypsy camps years ago. It was a fruitless exercise, As soon as they were towing them away the residents would follow them and be putting pick axes through the cars and the towing vehicles.

As for them stealing diesel, A company I worked for had the same situation as Infinite has described and was met with exactly the same response from the police. They were breaking into everywhere on the industrial estate and the police were as much use as a chocolate teapot on a summers day.

Original poster was from near me.
A bloke round here wasn't on good terms with his neighbors and when he was flogging his house
some pikeys approached him about buying a large field he had. He flogged the field to them to piss his neighbors off;-)

    Re: Gypsies & their vehicles...

There's load of the oiks round here like that, I have to scratch my head every time I seem them in a new top of the range truck/transit. Half of them don't even have a licence, and the other half are so inbred it's unreal. Throw them a banjo and you've cracked it, seriously.

They work all year round and don't pay any tax, loyal families, many of them own race horses.

Strange way to live compared to us 'normal' lot
