    Argh.

Bloody CHAVS. Just had a knock on the door from a neighbour.. my car has been broken into, passenger window broken, cd/radio stolen, along with 6 cds in the glove compartment and another 6 in the cd changer.

    So annoyed.

Police are on their way now.

What's even more annoying is the fact that the office that I've spent the last 5 hours in, watching films with my headphones on, is at the back of the house near where the car is parked. The back wall is the only thing between us.

Supposedly happened about 20 minutes ago, a guy from across the road saw it happening and nearly got hold of the bloody thief.

That's the first real crime we've suffered since we moved here 5/6 years ago. The only other thing was someone keying my mother's car.

I could really commit murder again, now.

Yeah, suppose I was asking for it really.

I took out the safety keycode thing (bit of removable plastic) that stops the radio from functioning without it. Doesn't stop them taking the cd changer/cds though.

Should get a call from the police for finger prints/statement in a few hours. Lazy gits!

Bad luck mate, thats truely crappy.

This is where having a stock tape head unit in the front and all the additional stuff like amp's and CD changer in the boot does wonders, I don;t live in the best of areas and its been as quiet as anywhere on the theft front from my drive

Had my stereo stolen about a month ago. Hopefully window will be cheaper to replace than the 97 quid i paid to have my door fixed.

If you are going to buy a new stereo - kenwood are doing free insurance for a year provided you keep the face plate and send it to them with crime number and car repair bill. Something to consider.

My mate's brother had a good idea with regards "hiding" decent stereos.

He simply takes the fascia off of an old crappy stock stereo and keeps it with him. Then when he leaves the car he takes off the fascia of the decent stereo and blu-tacs the "crappy" fascia to it. It actually looks like it's got a naff stereo in, not worth nicking. Works well

I know this is no use to you Theo, and it sucks. Chavs are the scum of Britain Just thought I'd post that to help prevent it happening in future

I was thinking of making a panel with wires sticking out of it to seem like its gone already. Not sure if it would work when theres enough light though.

Thanks chaps, any and all advice is appreciated and will be taken into consideration. Considering getting an old tape deck as a replacement and just using one of those CD->Tape converter things (with the dummy tape doodah) to rig it up to my Zen. Dunno if that'll work or not.

Not having a very good week so far... Just found out that my father was nearly killed in an explosion yesterday. He's got pretty severe oil burns on his forearm but he's alright.

All I need now is for the missus to tell me she's preggers.....

Phonecall from the POO-LICE: They're not coming round to take prints/a statement now - supposedly because it's a Focus, they dashboard won't have any fingerprints, they didn't leave anything behind/bleed so no DNA, and I have no case whatsoever because these absolute wasters have a special way of getting into the Ford Focus without tripping the alarm. Nothing they could do.

So now I have to pay £50 to get it fixed, add onto that the cost of the old radio, the cds (including Everything But The Girl! Arrrgh!), cost of a new radio and you've got lots of money that I can't afford. Ah well.. at least my NCB isn't affected

    that sucks mate.

reminds me of the time we hired a honda car, you can break the window in them and climb through the window and take the radio out anf then climb back through the window and no alarm.

The garage tried to charge my dad, he was not happy!

I had my car fingerprinted (peugeot 106) - they had a go at the dash but its not smooth so there was no chance of finding anything there. They also printed the door and window - but there was nothing usable there either. Tell them the exact model of stereo in case its ever found. But i wouldn't hold my breath for anyone being caught .

Break in i had cost me £214.72. Hope yours isn't too pricey.

Things are looking up for now.. They've caught a suspect who is (up to now) admitting to the break in/theft, and we've just had a policeman round to take a statement. Supposedly this guy has done about 30 other identical break ins on Ford Focuses in the last 6 months, all with the stereo stolen. And this is the first time they've gotten hold of him.

It's probably going to end up going to court, and as long as he pleads guilty, we should get compensated for the radio, cds, cost of the window and the insurance excess (all adding upto a total of £500-600).

    Fingers crossed, eh?
