Sit pretty much upright, quite close to the pedals for my size (6' 2") with the wheel pulled back as close to me as it will go, i like steering wheel close. Drive usually with one hand on the wheel, other on the gearstick unless we're pushing on then its back to sort of ten to two/quarter to three sort of position...

'Long Arm - Short Leg' I think it's called for me. Arms just bent enough to allow me to get a good quick lock if I needed to.

And as for this one handed driving it aint big and it aint clever OK, it might be fine pootling round town, but at motorway speeds I challenge anyone to swerve single handed. While you might yank the front away from the obstruction, I guarantee that you will massively over-correct when you then try to put on opposite lock, (unless you have the arms of Arnie) just like those lovely verge to central reservation skidmarks you see weaving up the motorway for about 100 yards until the tracks finally cross into a lovely figure-of-eight.

    Rant over

I must now confess though that I actually drive with hands around twenty-five to five on the straight, but it's still two hands - unless I'm smoking . Twisty bits def need quater to three though

Since im tall i have the seat all the way back....... which gives the backseats 0.0mm leg space... my seat touches the back seat

The backrest is lying backwards a little bit.... if it was upright... i'd more than likely have a dent in my roof of my head hitting it!!!! hehehe

you'd be terrified of what I can do with a car with one hand on the wheel...but on the whole it is best to have both on it. Depends whether you can roll your hand over and re grab lightning fast.....it takes many years of practice but its possible. The other hand is nomally tweaking the middle lever, button depressed to prevent it locking on.....while she turns tight

I probably wouldn't... Zak = Experienced. For the un-initiated though, frantically waving a steering wheel tends to impair accuracy

I used to sit bolt upright with arms bent hunched over the wheel, I didn't even have the seat back up, it might as well not have been there. Not sure why really, it just felt right, and I think I got a better view of what was coming. Then I had a long break from regular driving and when I bought the MR2 I started to lean back a little bit. I tend to have the seat quite a long way back and the seat back slightly reclined. I like to work the pedals with my ankles rather than with my whole leg, so that sort of forces me to have my bum a relatively long way back, hence the fairly upright stance. Arms I'd say are usually about 135deg. The MR2 has quick steering, I rarely need to spin the wheel very far. I can turn most corners just by slightly crossing my arms, if I sat closer I'd have to keep passing the wheel through my hands which I'm not so keen on (and yes I know that would fail me my driving test ).

on that note, why do all private taxi drivers (or atleast all the ones ive been in around here) drive with the seat reclined so far back its touching the rear passenger seat, and they can barely see through the wheel, nevermind over it.
er, if your northbridge fan is humming loudly, disconnect it. _dont_ kick the side of the case, it _will_ break it.
    i know :/

    Hmm
Get in, ratched seat to the back then bring it in one or two notches.
Drop steering wheel so it can be held with the knees and still operate the throttle, clutch and brake successfully.
Adjust seat back so near upright with a decent arm-kink for leverage.

Turns into a bit of a strange position for some peeps to understand as at 6'4" I used to have the seat all the way back, but now I realised I was missing some of the clutch control I wanted. Besides the biting point for my motor is way way down there!

    Anti-Vim mobiles :
Anything with a high-set, stupidly springy clutch with the biting point at the top of the travel. VW suffered from this for many years after my Polo.
Throttle and brake at significantly different heights... I MEAN WHY?!!!!!!!!
